Interesting way to reduce numbers of ultra expensive stuffs

Post by Sir Blood »

Commonly on here people buy an old smelly piece of overpriced equipment only to resell it a few months or so later...

How about a way that does away with it BUT it also benefits the player.

Compile a list of items: SoT, Bonecrusher, Blaze of Death, Titans, Batwings, Jackels etc

Player has the option to bind the item to their account. The reward for doing so is the item gains an enhancement. Enhancement randomly adds str - dex or int, Could also potentially increase the max cap for int str or dex a few points beyond the maximum(so instead of the player buying 8 str with points, they could get 9 or 10 depending on the luck of the draw) it could randomly add damage props to weapons, resist props to armor etc...

In the chance of a Bone Crusher with a 10 str, if the random enhancement would increase the str the str would base on the CURRENT str. Since the Bone Crusher has a 10 str, the enhancement would raise it to 11, 12 maybe even 13 if they are really lucky) If it raises the cap, it would be based on 8.

catch:
- If the item has a leveling deed already applied(or has already been relayered), this can not be done
- Item is yours forever, you can never sell it
- you can level it if you want to, but if you try to relayer... the item has a chance to self destruct *go poof*
- IF the item goes poof - The relayer deed gets partially destroyed (can combine 2 or 3 to get a complete relayer deed back. Partial deeds are account bound-)
- There IS a chance the new enhance deed could do nothing. In that case the player could apply another one

alternative"
- the first 3 relayered enhanced items have -0- chance to go poof on relayering.
- The more successful enhanced relayers, the higher the self destruct chance (with a cap at 40%)

What this would do is
- offer more options for players to choose for armor or weapons
- Offer up a whole new type of challenge for players wishing to enhance their relayers... *gamble much?*
- reduce the amount of high end weapons/armor being *resold over and over
- the binding process could require some gold or other tribute or possibly a 100 ed deed that can be bought in the ED room
- Might increase the $$ being donated to the server
- Has the potential to lower the selling price of many relayers as players try to get 'better' more enhanced ones. Since they have no way to see the enhancements until they bind the item to their account...

Could go so far as having a lot of rich players burning through their hordes of cash and ED.

Right now there are not that many options for players to get dex equipment except the core Jackels, Batwings etc... So many players are fixated on Bonecrusher relayers that anything else is considered 'sub-standard'

Why?

Why would we need to make the Uber powerful even more uber? Many are basically immortal as it stands.
Why would the uber rich want to burn through their cash and EDs to be just a weee bit more powerful?
Why would someone want to be "married" to an item they bought and not be able to resell it?

I see you put a lot of though into this, however.....
... why?

People think we are uber, from what was being passed around about the new areas before they got their power shut off... we would of been mere snacks for some of the big baddies there. Some things that were hinted of being able to hit for 500-600hp

Don't know if I could go so far as to say put a lot of thought into it as much as I can brainstorm something fierce and can write 15 page research papers in as a few hours... :P

Also if you look around... it is the same stuff being relayered all the time... add some sort of randomness to it...
