Today i've just seen in a player auction several staff made items being sold, this makes me wonder since i've never paid very attention to auctions if this is a common thing to happen and if so, what are people's oppinions on this matter... how can free offered stuff be sold to others? I would feel sad as a GM offering you items and you making profit out of it, it is simply as the name of this post , just wrong...
715k - mostly nyx crafted foods for fun...
1.5kk - special cakes for staff
These are some of the items i've seen since i wasn't there the whole time...
my regards,
Silent

Re: things that are just wrong
Staff-made food items are sold all the time on vendors and such, not much difference if they are sold at an auction I guess. I would say that the ones sold at the auction were from the dropped houses of inactive players and the person who picked them up already had them so they were sold. I personally wouldn't dream of selling my GM made food items since they were a gift but if someone had doubles I could see them being sold to someone who really wanted them.

It is a good argument the fact that they are sold in player vendors but I used the auction as I could use the vendor, it's just not right making profit of thigs you did not work for... but it's just my point of view ^^

Re: things that are just wrong
There are many players who love to collect said items, while others could care less about them. There is no need for those who could care less to hold onto them just because it came from staff. The need for gold could also outweigh any sentimentality attached to an item. More often than not, collectors broadcast their desire to purchase items and they are willing to pay handsomely for them, so why not satisfy both parties. I understand your sentiment, but as I said, it has never been a big deal here, especially wit GM food. They are normally massed produced but if you are ther unlucky one who wasn't on when they did it, and you are a collector, how else are you going to get one.
Re: things that are just wrong
those items at the auction were mine I collect them and end up with many duplicates and even triplicates so I sold my triples at auction and kept my doubles for trading. they did sell for a lot but if you think those rares are a moneymaking hobby your wrong ive spent far more building up my collection over the past year than I could ever get back by selling it. im glad people do sell these items rather than just eat them or keep them locked away in a secure or id never have all the wonderful items that were given out before I started here last spring.

As the one usually doing the sendouts, I can say that it doesn't bother me at all when folks sell the items. Basically I do a freebie sendout as a gift to all of you, and if some of you need/want gold more than you want the item, that's fine too. I'm still responsible for you getting that gold, since if you had no item you'd not have sold it for that gold. Either way, the thing I gave out is desired/has value on some level and that's good enough for me

My Shield of Valor brings me so much joy. I will never part with it. I am tempted to bless it so I don't have to keep it in my HBoH anymore.
