Here's what the complaint boils down to for all of the people who have been here a month. None of us with the riches and gear care who kills Mel. She is the by far the easiest peerless/GoC boss. I could make a character and without giving it any gold or gear be killing her within 3 hours of creating it. She drops a GoC piece. The GoC quest was not created to be done by new people. She drops the best weapons of any creature in game. She drops IMPS. Along with these items she also drops a huge corpse full of other items, too. All of that is just crazy given the example I just listed.

just curious tho the only thing that confuses me is why it took till now for you guys to say this? mel has been the same for years and this is the first post on said topic.. anyhoo its not enough of an issue to make me gripe and iggy all the stuff they have planned for us vets.. Id much rather talk about that stuff and leave this stuff be, since we have 2 staff aside from coli.. time spent on this... detracts from that..

on page 1 you will see where I said if the loot table is the issue alter the loot table.. so uhm yeah.. my only thing is whatever is done should be a quick thing so that we can let them focus on reams of new content

+1 Ilsanor, agreed. ;)

PS @Legendaries
Nice to see you in a role of an others bodyguard lol.
Useless to comment your one-sided view.
If anything needs to be discussed any further,
feel free to send me a PM.

Seems, some misunderstand the difference between a vet and a high-lv-player.
The problem is not to mis-honor a veteran of the shard.
The problem is the unbalance of some parts of the game, which needs some adjustment.
Meeting a PK:

Explo....poison....flamestrike....Ingots...
Ingots??
Aye, I ran out of mana :P

*Damned, I really need to tame a GM one day*

I didn't want to make note of this, but since the discussion refuses to die... I find it eyebrow raising that the thread was created just after high end weapons began selling at auction for 130m. Suddenly, after years of Mel dropping the same loot, this becomes contentious? Actually receiving a looted item of that caliber is akin to winning the lottery, and why not let everyone play? Lets meander back to the new content discussions, or at least focus on things that could seriously benefit from change. Tweak the loot table if need be, but this seems unnecessary at best.

I agree with this comment. I don't like to see a certain play style be removed. I like the options for variety. I am decked out with T.H. relayers, SOTs, and BCs; but (every so often) I still enjoy to shake things up and pull out my imps that I spent a lot of time and cash on. I like the freshness of change. Sometimes pulling out the imps does the trick for me. Honestly, either way -- using decked out imps or using decked out relayers -- Mel is easy for me.

That's really the only thing on this conversation I wanted to comment on. I frankly don't care if Mel is made harder or left alone, but I'm kind of passive and easy to please though.

Ilsanor wrote:*Account-binding of the GOC items - Again - why? If I chose to get my money by mining and selling ingots and then buy myself a GOC and not bother with running around killing stuff and turning it for the gem it's my choice. I'm probably putting in as much time in getting the gold as you are in obtaining a GoC to sell. If you follow this account-binding kind of logic further we should perhaps make everything account bound - items, resources, pets and whatnot. I mean - if I can't buy a GoC, why should someone be able to buy resources to make himself a pair of Sgail pants in an hour instead of spending a week or two to get all the ingots himself? One of UO's appealing points is the lack of 'levels' and (basically) a disregard towards stats when it comes to equipment - if you can afford it, you can most often use it. Thus, if you are determined enough (or wealthy) you can skip some (or most) of the grind that makes other MMO's boring after a certain point. Heck, if you donate a few thousand bucks you can have a fully relayered char on day 1. Can you use it? Probably not. Do you get a sense of accomplishment? Again - not really. But it is possible because it's UO. Don't try to take it away just because you have "paid and played" and someone has not.
Ilsanor, I respect your points however however I still firmly believe they should be bound. The GoC armor is the best armor in the game not counting relayers. They take almost 3 weeks minimum to earn. Every other MMO game I can think of binds the best gear to the player. Think about it, in WoW can you purchase the dropped raid gear from other players? If you want to be strictly a miner or crafter, you don't need the GoC gear. Same holds true for all other tried and tested MMO games. There is just no way to easily obtain the best gear in the game without getting your feet wet. On this shard I'm sure we have players with a box full of GoC's waiting to sell (may be exaggerating a tad). I've met people in game that don't know a lick about anything yet are fully decked out in GoC gear. It isn't right in my opinion.

I actually agree that the goc items should be account bound. The items, not the gems. So you could feasibly collect and sell the gem, but whoever chooses to make it into an armor piece has it bound to them. Colibri still feels that the GoC quest is a problem for the economy, and this is one of the ideas he is mulling over. I'm sure we will hear when he decides for sure.

In the mean time, Lady Mel will likely be changed to be a keyed boss similar to the others.

And that, in my opinion, ends this discussion. Nothing new, fresh, or interesting has been said in this thread since page 1, just various repeats on those ideas and random whining that every noob should get everything. That's not how this game is supposed to work, so that's not productive input. I'm going to lock the thread now. Perhaps you vets can go post in the forum section dedicated to your needs and wants, and the rest of you can find more productive things to post.
