Well, to be very honest, i dont shop in TC. it's way tooooooo laggy there and i need to wait for more than 5mins to load the information for 1 vendor and the price there are shocking. i rather shop in MZ and Player vendors in Trinsic. they have a much better price and less laggy. I would rather suggest to have more player vendors stores like Trinsic than remove the TC vendor. can allow more comparative price and less laggy in TC.

how would you know that items there are too expensive if you don't shop there, personally i find that trinsic vendor shop is more expensive, it just depends whose vendor you look at ^_-

back to the topic at hand, i agree with the situation but i also disagree (lol, i know i know) on one hand its is incredibly annoying to keep checking vendors (especially the ones with uber high prices that don't ever sell) and have either the same stock day in day out, thinking "darn, i could make better use of this spot". on the other hand, it is THEIR vendor, and like it or not, they can do with it as they wish :(

Firstly: I'm guessing you have a vendor in MZ or Trinsic lol...
Secondly: Trinsic is very overpriced from what I've seen, particularly the vendors dressed in gold.
Thirdly: As stated if you don't shop there how would you know what the prices are like?
Fourthly: A shameless plug, check out my vendor JOHNNY WARREN! for real prices and compare them to the Trinsic vendors then come and tell me TC is overpriced.

TC simply is the best place to shop. Most variety, good prices, reasonably high restock rates and the hub of Excelsior... Why else would people spend time posting about how hard it is to get a spot there?

Personally, if I still had my TC vendor (dropped it early this year when I took a break from UO) I'd want to keep it active even if I had nothing to sell simply due to the grandfather clause. My wife set up a Zento vendor a while back, and her weekly fee is 5k. My vendor, right next to hers, is 20k because I set it up after the price increase. TC has similar grandfathered spots, and the renters have every reason to keep those spots, even if they have nothing to sell, because the cost of replacing the vendor is more than the cost of rental fees. Her vendor fees for a full month are the same as my weekly fee.

I agree that something should be done about "squatters". However, I feel that the grandfather clause is a big part of the problem. I'm sure I am not making any friends when I say this, but it's something that needs to be discussed.

My proposal: do away with the grandfather clause and make people pay the same rate regardless of when they placed the vendor. Give the grandfathered vendor owners a notice, and like a 15-30 day period to decide whether they want to pay the increased rate or drop the spot. At the end of the grace period, raise the rental fee to match the newest price. While this would be an extra load on the staff, it won't be as bad as the cataloging idea mentioned earlier, and I believe part of an automated system for this is already in place. The server already knows when the vendor was placed, who the owner is, and what the weekly fee is, so it shouldn't be too hard to implement a notification system to warn grandfathered accounts of a price increase and set a timer. When the grace period is up, the price could be increased automatically.

Well keep in mind that vendors charge a percentage rate based on the total value of items up for sale, in addition to the base rate.

There was discussion a couple of months ago about the base rental price of TC vendors vs Makoto Zento vendors. I recall people saying rates were increased overnight in TC. So I am not sure a "grandfather clause" exists.

Perhaps we could persuade the staff to clarify. I found nothing about it on the Wiki. Under Player Services on the Wiki, it directs you to a page that says nothing about vendors.

I propose something be written and posted on the Wiki regarding vendor prices, including location and percentage rate charged on total item price.

I am talking about the rental price for the vendor "seat", not the price the vendor charges. Right now it's something like 30k in TC and 20k in Zento, with some seats costing more than others due to being in a more accessible/frequently visited/prime location. People who placed vendors before the price increase still pay the 5-10k or so weekly that the seats originally cost, while everyone who places a new vendor pays the new price. It is a very good incentive to hold on to a grandfathered seat, even if you don't sell many/any items.

Ok at least level the playing field. If you just gotta base removal on time since last restock then at least put in a multiplier for how much the vendor has been beefed up. A vendor starts able to hold 400 stones. If a player pays to have it increased to 800 stones then they should get two times as long until they are removed for not restocking. Otherwise paying to make your vendor hold more is just an easy way to lose your spot. Call me what you will but but I didn't even KNOW there was a time limit on restocks at the time I lost my spot. Of course I had it expanded to hold like 1200 to 1600 stone. Pets are heavy. (I have since been given a chance to buy a vendor in TC again by a kind soul but others are not that lucky.)
