Need help with stealing.

I'm completely new to stealing so I could use some help. Is there anyway to train stealing? I can't steal off my pack animal, and I tried going to Felucca to see if it would work there, but got killed as soon as I stepped through the gate.

Does anyone know of any way to train stealing in Trammel?

You can only do the pack animal trick if you're guilded and your pet is set to Guard, an easier alternative is to steal from a secured box in your house. From ~25-90 I stole from a pile of 2000 gold, replacing it every time, then switched to a 10-stone dyetub to get to 120.
