Re: Unveiling the DashGUI
That looks pretty good Adin! I had completely forgot to mention that there was a dragon background already in the custom client files. It's ID is $111. Here is shot of what it looks like.
Dash, you have forced me to have to find the pre-alpha client just so I can see those amazing revolutionary graphics for myself. I had never realized that the pre-alpha graphics were pretty much just a rip of the Ultima 8 graphics.

The one that you worked to develop wouldn't happen to be 'Ethereal Void' would it?There's a basic server emu for it, and it's a lot more advanced than the one I worked to develop years ago

Re: Unveiling the DashGUI
So you're trying to make your own client by using these old grafics and scripts ?

I'm not too happy with this ... any suggestions ?

Re: Unveiling the DashGUI
Well the alpha client certainly is interesting, if only for historical reasons, but also to see just how they worked. It appears to me that new grafics were pretty much the last thing on their todo, but thats often the case.

Re: Unveiling the DashGUI
It never gets loaded. +Colibri could tell us exactly but I'm guessing it was created for the login but never implemented. Using it as your login background is just as easy as the one you decided to use. Just in gump editor you would extract it as a .bmp file then put it in the right spot. I personally want to go back to the old login screen. The one where the chest opened up and then you put in your info.Adin wrote: Eh ? When is this one loaded ? I never see it ...

I understand how to use the mul editor meanwhile ... it's quite easy. Maybe i should make a new thread for finished grafics or something ... i need feedback and this thread only seems to be noticed by the three of us, sadly. Problem is that most people don't really now how to handle WIP stuff, thats why i created some eyecandy(more or lesslabmonkey wrote: It never gets loaded. +Colibri could tell us exactly but I'm guessing it was created for the login but never implemented. By the way, if we had a command line tool to add stuff to the mul files, we could simply write a batch tool to do the patching, don't you think ? That way, we would only need to includ the files that would be integrated...

Re: Unveiling the DashGUI
You mean to be able to make a patch that can be distributed to other players? I have really looked into any command line batch tools for the patching because the patch maker in MulEditor has worked for everything except Static files. You can use an empty verdata.mul file and only add the items you want to change and then create the patch from that.
I completely agree with seeing if more people are interested. I think there are plenty of people that keep an eye on this thread, they are just waiting to see what develops from it. This gives us a chance to figure out the best way to to make the modding process easier for everyone. Dash really opened a can of worms with the DashGUI. Before long we will have a patch that includes the new GUI and login screen.
Now if only I was artistically talented like you and Dash I could actually contribute something to this effort.
