There are a lot of farming strategies for gold and it really depends on your gear and what you find enjoyable.

How many of those maps you completed were deviously drawn? As stated before, you cannot get maps out of ingeniously drawn chests in trammel. If you did 100 deviously drawn maps in trammel, had 5700 luck, and did not get any new maps, your looting script is broken.

In trammel you can only find up to level 6 (ingeniously drawn) maps in treasure chests. Level 7 and 8 maps only drop from fel chests. If you were the one linking the gate you would need to be a co-owner at the destination. But if the owner of the of destination house came to your house and used the deed themselves, you would only need to make them a friend.
