The 8 Candle Rule

This rule prevents new players to join a champion spawn after the players who have been there since the start have already progressed enough.

If you join a champion spawn when there are 8 or less candles, you will be automatically accepted as a participant. If you come when there's 9 or more candles, or when the champion is out, and you aren't a participant, you will be given a choice whether to initiate a vote among all current participants, to allow you to join.

When the vote is initialized, all the current participants who are online will get a message about who is trying to join, they can either press Yes or No. The vote is timed, so if you do not reply quickly, it will be considered as if you voted against the join.

At least 75% of the participants must agree so that the candidate can be accepted.

All participants who haven't been active in the last 15 minutes, or who are more than 120 tiles away from the spawn, will be automatically removed from the list of participants.

Once the champion is killed and the gold falls to the ground, the participants have 15 minutes to pick it up. After that it's free for all to join again.
