economy
Re: economy
This is just coming off the top of my head and I am assuming the issue at hand deals with getting the really rich people to spend their gold other then just at grand auctions.
So lets say for this example, you need to have 50 mil in exex (best way to hold funds of this size anyways). (This number can be higher if found to be to low). For lack of a better way to put it, it is the URC (Uber Rich Club). Have a stone they can purchase things from that are not normally available, very expensive and not able to be sold to other players.
Here are some ideas.
1. Buy a static house for 75 mil
2. Increase an item prop above max, 2.5 mil per point
3. Stats above max, 5 mil per point
4. Bow doesn't need arrows, 10 mil
Before anyone things this is getting out of hand, if you have this much gold... you already tackling the harder monsters without pets and most events these days are the kind the provide equipment and make you remove your normal gear.
No offense but most raffles are not gold sinks as people might think in my opinion, people just dump 100k or such and hope they win. The idea is to get millions out of the system and be able to repeat this process. Finally this works better then an item at the Grand Auctions because sure, 2 people may pay a combined total of 19 mil for an item or something but if it is for sale all the time for 10 mil or 5 mil, you will have 20+ people buying it.
Now I am not claiming to have the right answer, this is just my idea but it is coming from a person who has gold and what it would take for me to spend it. Otherwise I will continue to do my normal; hunt, kill and loot everything in sight for 3 months and then rock hard at the Grand Auction.

Re: economy
Good ideas, Nelapsi.
Re: economy
I did say the idea was off the top of my mind so I have 2 things I want to add...
1. Entry fee into the URC is 25 mil. After all, if you are that rich what's 25 mil between friends.
2. Since you can donate and almost immediately gain entry, scary thought in my mind was a person with a young tag being admitted, it should be 50 mil (or whatever the number is) and 12 months on a the account.

Re: economy
Nelapsi love the ideas thank you and keep them rolling guys. i always like titan hammers on a stone for 25 mil or 50 mil maybe even a 100 mil
Re: economy
Nelapsi, I like several of your ideas. I would be interested in hearing more ideas for gold sinking for the ridiculously wealthy players. Keeping you interested, finding new things for you guys to do, as well as helping you spend some of that money y'all are holding on to is of benefit to the whole shard, and something I personally want to try to do.
About the raffle tables, we're going to try and keep up with them more now, but if you notice one is empty and needs an item, send a page. Currently no staff members have trinsic as their town to decorate so we don't always notice right away when the raffles have ended. +Jade checks them pretty frequently but there's always times when they go a couple days empty. Let us know, and we'll put something up. They are a really good gold sink for low to mid level players, so they will stay. We'll just try to find more things for the superduper rich to spend gold on.
I definitely like the idea of hosted PVP events, I'll be talking to +V about this tonight, it might tie in pretty well with a little something we've been working on
Keep the ideas coming, guys! I'm interested and motivated

Re: economy
Here is the thing, if you are a member of the URC you don't need a titan hammer because you can pay for your stuff to be increased. Titan Hammer is for the poor people to play withanarchy wrote:Nelapsi love the ideas thank you and keep them rolling guys. i always like titan hammers on a stone for 25 mil or 50 mil maybe even a 100 mil

One final thing I would like to add to the URC, once you pay the entry fee... 1 mil per month to maintain membership, if you allow your membership to lapse you will need to repay the 25 mil.
+Nyx: no need to keep me interested, I have OCD.. as long as there is gold to acquire I am happy

Re: economy
all this will do is widen the gap in strength between the veterans and new people or people who don't play so hardcore, which will make it more difficult for gms to do events or new content. Also turns off some people.Nelapsi wrote: 2. Increase an item prop above max, 2.5 mil per point

cosmetic things are fine but I don't think players really need to become even stronger than they are now

This problem already exists so I am not introducing something new, I never do events and I have to wonder how many can afford to be URC do them as well.Adrias wrote: all this will do is widen the gap in strength between the veterans and new people or people who don't play so hardcore, which will make it more difficult for gms to do events or new content. I was merely offering an idea on what would get me to spend goldAdrias wrote: cosmetic things are fine but I don't think players really need to become even stronger than they are now

Re: economy
The comment regarding widening of a gap is irrelevant. Donations are not necessary to get relayers nor is time on server. I have more relayers than probably 95% of people if not more and have probably donated less than 95% of the people here. Also only have 412 or so days played here. Got my first relayer probably 3 months after starting here. I currently do what Nelapsi is talking about and that is hoarding gold. I can tell you the difference between relayer number 9 and 10 is rather insignificant. I'd like a Titan's but refuse to pay a fortune for one. I on the other hand would spends tens of millions on bumping stats.
Nelapsi stated it perfectly when he said Titan's is a toy for the non-URC members. I'd rather have a darkened sky with 15 or more str as a symbol of me being rich than I would have a Titan's. I can always name change something if I so desire to have it called that.

Re: economy
I like the idea of a "entry fee" but not for a rich club but for a dungeon. This is my reasoning...
1) Entry fee to dungeon = 25mill or whatever the GM wants to charge.
2) Dungeon is a combination of Sgail and Umbris camp or both.
3) Prize you get = a plaque stating that you have successfully completed the say "dungeon"
4) We can earn points and keep track at a huge billboard e.g. Player with highest point from no.1 to no. 10 = bragging rights
5) No need to have a restriction of new player or old player. Cause if you are a new player and can donate to get 25mill you might not survive the dungeon. But if you are that filthy rich and you can donate for 25mill+ and still afford the latest relayers then.... Oh well, congratulations to the few of you!
6) You can bring a couple of guys... say five of you pitch in 5mill each then all five can have some fun.
7) No uber wep/gear/items are won... just points and a plaque therefore no hard feelings for the ones that cannot join this dungeon.
Vets get to do something fun .... again!
9) By that time millions will be removed from the server, right?
10) Maybe... just maybe you can have a parade through Britain for the ones that complete the dungeon... LOL
You think this will be interesting and yet fun? Please be nice.....

Re: economy
Pay to Slay Dungeon is a good idea =]
Maybe if it was hard but didn't generate hardly any gold per mob would be good.
Still a bit rough, but could be effective =]
As an alternative, the URC Vendor stones could be in there as well.
Faster than doom spawns ... there are a lot of things that could go into such an area ... maybe even have it be in the Magda
Doom with the vendor area in there someplace.
I mean, I am so far from URC, but this is definitely something to look forward to if it were to be implemented
Keep coming with these awesome ideas =]

Re: economy
I am not sure if there is a need for create more "fun", I do believe the staff is on the right track with these small quests they have doing recently. Call me odd but I liked the leash with 1k uses (even though I don't use pets and it sits at my house.. it was still neat) and would easily be going along for more quests like this. I view paying to go to a dungeon much like me paying to go to work, just doesn't make sense to me. For me anyways the idea of this thread is how to get gold away from us hoarders who simply wait for grand auctions and then buy what we desire without little thought or concern, so I gave an idea that would get me to spend gold some where else.
Cornbread gets it, I don't have a single titan hammer relayered nor have any desire for one to use for myself. Here is the kicker though, I'd pay 20 mil for something that allowed me to toolhouse (combine uses) for like instruments. I payed 30 mil so I could have 2 feeding bowls by my trainer, trust me pets will never eat that much. I think that is the insight into how to get players to spend mass gold, we buy npcs and thing tike that. Do we need to? No not even remotely because every town has them but we will gladly pay 100 eds or more just to make life easier for us while playing.
Finally, if you think my idea is going to break the playing balance of the shard then you haven't traveled around with those that can afford to be in the URC. Even if such a player could really max his stuff out, he will still have the same troubles in certain areas that he has now (some monsters do over 2k damage) but the trade off is the amount of gold that has left the system simple because of pride
Let me give you an example of something, right now the best you can have the 3 leeches in is 60 (minus a few rare exceptions like breath of the dead and such). Lets say a person in the URC wants to get a weapon to all three leeches at 100, that would cost 300 mil (at 2.5 per point), now is 100 in each leech really out of balance or going to tip the shard? I don't think so but if multiple players are removing that much gold from the economy I do think you will finally see grand auctions get a bit more in check and less amped up bids and suddenly the middle class can finally bid on stuff again perhaps.

Re: economy
Maybe you are right... I don't know much of the URC players. I am constantly broke and every gold earn goes into the development-of-my-gear fund. Perhaps your solutions is tailored to the 'hoarders'. I don't think that your idea will unbalance the shard, hell I wish that I could add deeds to max the properties above the 60% to my weps. Mostly cause it is quite an eyesore.
Yes, a vendor 'stone' with rare decos and special deeds that starts at millions gets my vote!
even though I cannot afford it.

Re: economy
We do have a deco room so perhaps for deco it merely needs to be expanded/updated/cycled.
Keep in mind, once upon a time every player on here was poor and sinking every last gold they got into gear. Doesn't matter how they got their gold, we all do the same thing so we can relate. The idea is at least with something like the URC you will have a goal after you reach your current goal. Most shards run into this same exact situation, what to do with players who have been on the shard for a number of years.. this may be an answer to that.
I really hope staff doesn't think I am complaining by any means, just thought I would toss in my two cents.
