Looking to buy 2+ pieces of potential re-layer gear. It will be my first so any advice as well will be most appreciated.

Re: Relayer
IMO start with an SoT or 2. theyre affordable and require no lvling while adding 30 hp. no change deed @ 200 ED required either and you will probably end up having a couple in the long run anyway

Re: Relayer
Excellent and thank you for the tip. Where might I find 1-3 of these SoT's?

SoT's, or Spirit of the Totems are found in the gauntlet. They will generally run you around 2-3 mil if purchased from other players.
While 30 hp is a good thing, I personally found it easier to get other relayers first. The reason being, dexterity. By starting with re-layers, first, it was easier to replace a single piece of gear at once, and keep 220 dex, even with 4 pieces of GoC. I wore the chest/sleeves/gloves and boots. I eventually replaced my GoC gear with SoTs.
I do also realize this will be easier these days, since The Cloak of Mist, and Sash of Fog didn't exist when I did it.
I'm just saying plan out what you want to do, so you don't make any costly mistakes.

Re: Relayer
SOT are arti drops from Gauntlet. However I wouldn't pick that as my first relayer. I'd go with something that you can level and spend the points. Getting HCI and DCI capped are especially useful, cap all the easy stuff right away. SSI, LMR, Add your regens and SDI and RPD and stats. I think the first few relayers make the biggest difference. There are a few relayer help threads on the forums, do a search for help with spending the points. It can be frustrating to make a mistake and later have to redo your relayers. A nice looted weapon with resists and FC1 would be nice, or resists and SSI. Swords of prosperity is a good one because it has FC1 and 200 Luck. Something with DI on it would be nice so you can get that capped too. Just my opinion.

Re: Relayer
i guess my SoT opinion was just based on the fact that i got to 220 dex w/o any relayers pretty easily. these guys/gals have been around alot longer than me and have alot more knowledge than i do so it might be best to listen to them

If you do decide to relayer a couple of SoT's first I would recommend you put them in the robe and belt slots. The reasons behind that are that those two slots are the ones that don't have any alternate options that include dex (220 dex being far more important than any relayer) you would be replacing a hive robe with 10 possible str and a crimson cincture with 5 str. At best you would only gain 25str/32hp assuming you had those items already.
Another thing to remember is if you do early SoT relayers physical resist as a stat on a potential relayer becomes worthless. A spirit of the totem on your head, chest and belt will net you 60 of the 70 physical resist you need.
Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Getting to 220 dex isn't an issue. When you begin replacing gear with relayers, you lose your dex gear. Not every slot has dex on it, so keeping 220 dex is more difficult the less slots you have to work with. For example, you need 2 relayers to replace your jackals collar (15 dex on one piece). It's easier to do, if you have extra slots to work with.
If you plan on wearing GoC, that is 4-6 slot's you "lose" for dex replacement gear. If you already have SoTs relayered in the other slots, you have a choice... keep 220 dex, or ???
