UOAM link issue

Good morning, and thank you all for reading.
I am trying to link to shard.uoex.net, through UOAM, so my friend and I can see each other, on the map.
Upon following the instructions, located at http://www.uoex.net/codex/technical/uoam, all I get is program-freeze.
Is this server still maintained? Is it up?

OS: Win7
Asus G73-JH

Tested with:
UO Auto Map 8.2.0.1
UO Auto Map 8.3 beta
UO Auto Map 9.0.0.0

Everything ran as admin, and compatibility mode WinXP SP3 & 2.

This is my last resort in finding a solution.
A big thanks to any contributors!

EDIT: UOAM doesn't freeze. It times out, after a few minutes, while trying to connect.

I know this is an old post, but had no answers, and I am experiencing the same problem... Anyone know how to fix this?

I prefer the auto-map function on Razor! Only 1 simple thing you have to do to get it to work.
- Make a copy of map0 and rename the COPY to map1

I had the same problem with UOAM and gave up

I wasn't able to get the supplied version of UOAM working. I did, however, get it working when I downloaded version 8.3.0.0 from here: http://forums.uosecondage.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19046

I did not attempt to connect it to the UOAM server mentioned in the Wiki. I just opened UOAM and selected the 'UO client data files' option from the Map menu at the top. Pointed it at my UOEX install folder, and it started working.

EDIT: I did the UOAM FULL INSTALL not the mini version.

Also, I was never able to get it to connect to the shard UOAM server. It would just freeze each time.

1. Unzip the file to a folder of your choice.
2. Start UOAutoMap, press Ctrl+K (or go to the top menu -> Link -> Controls) .
3. Fill in the information:
Name: Your character name on the shard
IP: shard.uoex.net Port: 2000
Don't forget that this feature allows other players in the channel to see your location.

from the wiki... You need to hit Link to server and not Start server. I'm using UOAM 8.3.0.0 Beta and it runs flawlessly. I'm going to leave it up all night just in case someone wants to test it and look for me.

Ok, I have been using port 60, which is what the client is set up to use - I'll try setting it to port 2000 and see if that works, thanks :)

Yeah, im pretty sure that is your problem.. port 60 cannot be used by both the RunUO server -shard itself- and the server program for UOAM. two separate programs have to use different ports.

UOAM is not connecting to the shard's server. It is connecting to UOAM's server. Thus the different ports.

actually uoam is linking to uo-excelsiors own automap server thus for ip addy it says shard.uoex.net just logged into it to be sure.

I should have clarified. Same physical server computer, different server clients.
