This just came to me, figured should write it down and share.
I propose weapon experience to be rewarded based on how long a monster has been alive for.
Or maybe a combination of alive time and monster type.
This will:
make roaming more affective than recall weapon leveling.
disperse population, leading to fewer conflicts.
make it less likely for people to afk weapon level.
make it quicker for new characters to level weapons (potentially)
Something to consider if you ever have a need to fix something in this area.
Thanks!
Idea to slightly improve weapon leveling system
Re: Idea to slightly improve weapon leveling system
A long time ago +colibri and I were talking about Leveling things and "recall macros" and things like that, had ideas of 'if u keep killing the same mob type to not get as much exp" but...The thing is, imho. no matter what you do, you won't solve much, As long as things u can recall to give good exp, and mos facets have tons of those, Malas, Tokuno, Trammel, All both of those ideas would do, is alter players runebooks for what to kill to avoid whatever happens. And at the same time, If you made mobs that get more exp as they are alive longer, why wouldn't I just write a rail script to run through ilshenar and then through fel areas, and then back again. Just seems like a one day story to a "if i get to these spots none uses, I could level faster than them, but in the case if that were truth on the exp gains, more spots would be taken up by levelers adding books or changing rune locations to adjust.
My thoughts on that matter. What would work to me though, If u are killin balrons, yamadaons, etc. with a weapon, or if you are killing creatures with a weapon that has a leveling deed on it, that we get the auto checks like you get with the captchas from the resource gathering. That could be a good fix, so no matter where u are, if u want to farm gold with a weap on the high end creatures, or want to level a weapon, you must be able to pass those checks.

And can we get the spam post out of this thread
Re: Idea to slightly improve weapon leveling system
I am very much in agreement with the automated capcha like resource gathering people cry when its brought up but honestly it would free up nyx from having to perform a constant vigil on the dungeons.
I have always thought that felucca monsters should give more weapon xp, yes people could design a rail macro of some sort but people will always try and get around whatever controls are in place.. you can take reasonable steps to prevent exploitation but people will always try and get around whatever control you make.. you could spend all the staff time and resources making controls/checks/balances or you could use that time to develop new content.. I think the latter is preferable there are always more manual ways to detect and ferret out the troublemakers
