I was wondering why when you mine you dont pick up gems while mining. If ore had gems in it it would be easier to make jewelry. Also a way to get some extra gold.

Yep I have 120 mining and have never seen a gem pop up.

Now in Lumberjacking (also 120) I have gotten a "fire gem" once in a blue moon, but the name on the gem is different than the script says. I think it ends up as one of the big round amber gems and is not not named "fire gem" on the actual item. I will have to double check that just in case and make screenshots the next time I go to chop trees.

See thats weird that a tree drops a gem and mining does not. Would be great if they add in when you melt down your ore you will also get some type of gem or gems. Also be able to combine smaller gems to make a bigger gem that sells for higher gold.

Ceara, it's brilliant amber. I found it couple of times, but its rarity do not equals to its value in any way. I think you can get them on ExEx for less than 1k.
