I think I remember where they spawn though it would take a while to find again... think it's a beach alcove in Ishtar...

Yeah, but you cannot ride it, so pretty useless as alternative of assistant program able to pick that gold. If you meant beach in ilsenhar, near skeletal dragon, it spawns bone beetle.

They're still around, they spawn in Solen caves.
Back in the day when a champion dropped the gold in a big radius of small piles, these were a lot of fun to pick the gold with.
Now that the champion already splits the gold and drops it in about 8 piles around each player, they're not so useful anymore. But perhaps, if you're crafting, it will pick up things that fall out of your backpack when you're overweight.

Hm, didn't came in mind such usage of it, so it means they pick also other things, not only gold ?

It's sort of a joke. They're not at all picky about what they pick up: anything that isn't locked down.

It was the wild west back then. Sometimes the gold would get split evenly, sometimes it was a grab and go, sometimes someone would make off with it all.

Champs would need a vote to join past 50%. Guilds would try to control the champ spawns, it wasn't as friendly as it is now at champ spawns. UOEX has always been a friendly place overall though.

So, if they pick up anything that isn't locked down..... this sounds like a solution to the horrible "You have items that are not locked down in your house" message!! Now I need one. or six.

Ty Wil for info. Nice idea Buttery, but you wouldn't be able to get six of them, if am not mistaken, than it took 4 or 5 slots.
