I know houses fall, but when they are getting ready to fall do they fall at a certain time of the day? or just random on a server save? or when is best time of day to go around looking?
I know they fall when an account has been inactive for how ever long depending on the age of the account etc etc.
Thanks
ps- so wish they still had doc's, that used to be such a whoot!

as far as I know they always fall on server saves and loot stays till the next hourly save unless its been moved then that item start a new 60 minute decay timer. no way to predict when the houses fall though only colibri knows that.

They fall periodically, about every few hours (a few per day) depending on how many houses are overdue, since a house doesn't decay the same moment it would become expired.
I was thinking of maybe bringing back IDOC events, so that all expired houses would drop at a predictable time once or twice a month.

+Colibri that would be so cool to bring them back, it was always so fun wondering around finding the houses that were "in danger of collapse" I vote YES to bring it back

I vote no on bringin back idoc's the way it is now whoever puts in the time runnin around lookin for houses that have fallen or empty spots reap the rewards... plenty of spots to place smaller houses up to and including 18x18's. if idoc's are brought back the chances of getting a castle or keep will be next to 0 and the landscape will be changed to all small houses......oh wait if that happens ill start sellin my castles off for 2 titans hammers or 4k ed each.....sure have at....but seriously bringing idoc's back imo will be the beginning of the end. just my 6th grade edumaction talkin to be sure

I am not sure about events; but it may be nice to have a house sign show IDOC - but no one knows when it will actually drop; just that its close - so only somewhat predictable.
Of course; I am not totally upset with the way it is now; since I ran around last night looking for houses and was able to place a Castle and a Keep right next to each other =)

Just curious, how long does it take a house to drop, once a player hasn't logged in for said amount of time?
I'd love to see more frequent house drops, I think it would stimulate the housing market, and open up some space for newer players as well.
It would probably also be a good gold sink, as everyone would be spending more EDs getting house plots

I vote yes, bring back IDOC or maybe a new event for them. With IDOC you have to hunt for the house to find them. Maybe make it a quick term, like 3 days till collapse. Could make a monthly event out of i too if preferred.
Good luck out there,
Haz

because there is no warning on a house sign that says its idoc u have to run and look a lot but it also involves real life luck...if u happen upon a house that fell since the last world save u get to place and get the loot.... its like Christmas morning lookin thru all the presents u didn't know u wanted until u see what it is. as far as bringin back Idoc's as I said before the way it is now because there is no warning it is a matter of putting in the time runnin n looking, and it takes rl luck to be the first to find it...most stealables or all rather are on a set timer so once u figure out when its goin to spawn u only need to show up a few mins before n steal the object. with idoc's its goin to be the same thing, once u figure out the timer u only need to show up a few mins before. I used to be a idoc'er on catskills way back when so I know the timer and how to figure out when its goin to fall. show up a few mins b4 and done. oh well I don't run the shard and its just my opinion. hate to think the one thing that is not on a timer ( that players can see) is goin to end. guess ill have to start using my script as im runnin to find the idoc houses and mark them. will be too easy

Yeah there is currently a "market" for those who want to recall around and hunt for these houses, it can be pretty involved. If it's made public, it then becomes christmas morning on a monthly basis, for a lot of people.
There's a housing upgrade in the works, maybe the IDOC changes could be part of it.

Any details on the housing upgrade?

Well, in fact a thread of "in development" or "what next?" would be great!

the IDOC could be a random fall time anywhere from 3 to 30 days. Not a this house will fall in x days once this message is shown...

I once played on another freeshard long ago and they had a decay system that the house sign went red and after the time it turned red people had 1 week to get back online otherwise it would nuke.
IMO this would be the best thing, if to be changed at all, people would be able to spot houses decaying and know that within a week or sooner (if they spotted it late) the house would decay.
It would also help people who are away to manage their nuking situation since perhaps friends would warn them that their properties where under red flag .
ps: I am not sure on whether people actually always find houses but it is very sad if a cool event trophy is lost by nuking, we are losing our history if so
