This is a map I recently made for Shroud of the Avatar :
http://i.imgur.com/c2xnnkw.jpg

It is of the city Owl's Head.
I couldn't resist making a purposeful typo - I added an "i" into Vertas Pass. :D
It will be interesting to see how long before anyone picks up on it.

#- Homunculus Body Maps -#

These are maps of the human body with the concept that one area of the body controls or otherwise necessarily corresponds to another part of the body in a centralized way. Usually considered quack science :)

Couple Fun Things to look at...the title of the article is alarming, but the interactive map at the bottom is pretty cool

I recently moved and considered many variables, including the fact that I might have kids at some point in the next decade. Although this interactive map might depress some people its rather informative nonetheless.

Tiger Mosquito Prevalence Maps

Image

This map is just for asian tiger variety but, conditions favoring one species are going to be favorable to any other.

Here is a prevalence map specifically in the US:

Image

I pulled these up after reading NME's comments about intentionally considering variables of one's geographic location. I live *right* there in the middle of all that red zone. Guess which variable I'm hunting? So while scouting for the above, I stumbled across this bit of data:

Image

o.O That got me thinking. :geek:
Is it coincidence that this hot mosquito-infested, parasite-ridden, gator-gon-getcha, swamp region,
is also world-renowned for its "southern hospitality," soul-food cooking and great music?
TexMex? Creole, cajun? Jazz, blues, swampgrass?
Nashville and Memphis have put out more #1 hits in multiple genres than anywhere else around the world!
All of these things - music, hearty helpings, warmth and kindness - are acts of passion.
We are a passionate people.

Perhaps as the heat map and the mosquito map went hand in hand,
compassion and parasites do also?
The south's parasites don't stop at mosquitoes, after all. We also have the kudzu population:

Image

This vine completely usurps and takes over entire forests - very fast. They are surreal. They stupefy us. We cannot eradicate them faster than they can repopulate. So, we set camp and accept our fate. We lay down our axes and pick up our guitars. We write it love songs and lullabies...

Image

Perhaps facing insurmountable odds, haunted by tiny flying vampires, leaves us little choice but to gather round, share our best, and sing... about maps without mosquitoes.

But which came first...? O.o The passion? Or that which preys upon it? o.O ☮
