I've only been there about 6 or 7 times so I am hardly an ideal source of info but I do have some observations that may help the beginner (being one myself):
1) Keep in mind that the positioning of cities/towns/dungeons in Fel. is the same as in Trammel. That means that if you know the Trammel locations, you will know the Fel. counterparts. Using a sextant is a real BIG help - I had one of my daughters write down co-ords for me as I wandered tram using the world teleporter so now I have a list of co-ords that help when attempting to explore Fel.
2) If you are new, relatively new, or inexperienced, don't go to Felucca alone! at minimum, get some good pets to protect you if you don't have a good uber real friend playing that can escort you around. Bring a Boat! Also INSURE everything you don't want to loose!
3) If you have questions, always ask - try not to beg for escorts but instead information. The veterans on this shard, as I've seen so far, are more than willing to give you information about how to get where you want to and what to look out for. A PM for information, rather then begging for an escort and help means a lot to these folk who play a lot here... Of course if you are dead and need help, then that is a very good reason to beg for player assistance more then just information
4) Try to be equipped to deal with Felucca. Aside from insuring your items, bringing pets/friends and mapping out your journey, make sure you have all the stuff you will need for an extended stay in Felucca; bandages for healing, the right weaponry for the monsters you'll face, 100% LMC armor, and anything else you think you'll need to survive there. For example, as previously posted here, UMM monsters abound in the forests but they are only susceptable to lightning and lightning like strikes - casting Smite is a good offense or carrying a weapon with lightning hit is another alternative; mules work but mine don't cast lightning often enough to offset UMM healing - they only have 70 or so hits but they heal too. I have an "axe of the heavens" which i keep just for these guys
4a) as a side point here, also make sure you have your skills at some minimum level; to cast smite successfully, you need at least 80 spirit speak to have a chance of it and it uses 50 mana per use. Also, if you are bringing pets, make sure your vet and animal lore skills are up for healing those animals as they will find monsters that will swallow them whole if you aren't careful!
5) finally, prepare for death. you know it will happen in game. you know it'll happen more often in Felucca than not. Make sure that you are ready for it- insure your stuff, have gold in the bank to cover that insurance and, if you have pets, either have another 60k in bank or crystal ball of summoning to get those animals back once you get revived...
Lastly, remember this is just a game and don't get worked up if you are laden down with however much in treasure that you got only to be killed on the way back to trammel - it happens and there are usually enough nice folk out there that may be able to give you a hand...
And a BIG THANK YOU to those folk who helped me thus far: Blaze Budd (did I get your name right? I hope so) for his help in traveling around Fel., Monet for actually escorting me to Nujellm - that was appreciated and showed me how to get better around in felucca! and a Special Thanks to Steve Irwin for all his help which I can't even list as he was one of the first to help me when I came to this shard back in the summer.
Hope this helps.
