I could write paragraph after paragraph but to sum it up.

Whine whine whine why don't yuh lol.
Get creative, figure out new strategies and tactics. It's not impossible..
We had this same kind of whine and cheese when pets were given the chance of 5% stat loss.... You will get over it and adapt :p it'll be ooooooooook hehe.
Funny too how when people ask for challenges and our great staff dish them out, players want to pick and choose the convenience of the challenge lol. Come on guys, seriously. Not saying I won't be in fel one day and have something go wrong and make up alternate cuss words when it does. (frickin' pie face! Mother of pearl!!) but I'll get over it.... And everyone else will too

Day late and a dollar short on that post Llexa. Fixes have been put into place already for the nerf Fel got. All happy campers now.

hmm... Llexa does bring a good point, an also a good point on making fel a more expert place, however... the people did bring this apon themselves lol, but maybe implementing this change too soon, spawning fel for the experts, an by expert i mean impossible (difficult setting that is), but in other words fel isnt that fun to begin with, not enough challenge in spawns, an not enough of them to begin with...

my eyes, i see this as slowing the process of players running to certain spawns that use bios, an them camping it way longer or not be seeing them around for awhile... an if its not already in process, the more spawns in fel would be nice, an possibly in the lost lands, only thing there is parox...

an on a side note, whatever happend to putting the poll to vote on huge changes like this, it gives us, erm... a long debate on the pros an cons... but i see the point in the change, just add more spawns in the fel side of the lands is all

I was under the impression that the changes were to be made in fel. So I'm a bit bothered to find a summoning delay outside of there. In Trammel's Terathan Keep is where I first ran into this.

Well part of the issue with this change was not so much a Fel problem. Staff didnt want players to be able to stealth in, bypassing all the monsters, straight to the boss of the area, unshrink all their pets and "all kill". Since some of the peerless are in trammel also, then it applies to Tram as well as Fel.

Lets do the math with simple question , what would of been longer , walking out of fel from any given champs ,, or going out of your house and walk trought a 100k house gate to get to a teleporter? For the PWT issue i had that was kindly fixed 12 hours after the post .With my post or not it didnt really affect the final decision because they never were meant to be disable in the first place.

As for the first part we could play with words all we want that wont change the fact that even if excelssior is a free shard its still a running business in expansion .We are lucky to have passionate and dedicated staffs for us that treats us right as any business would do with their customers (you can change customers for the word you would like) The proof of that,i simply look at the ratio of players online from when i first started which was at 20-40 players/hour to now where you can easily find 150-200/hour at any given time of the day . So being a customers,supporters,givers to a free server aint all bad afterall,it makes our little fantasy world go round!

Normaly i never would of replied to your comment but since the second part of post your was directly aimed at me and me only i felt like clarifying something with you. I felt a bit of sarcasm ,not to say anger in your post. I Guess the fact that i told you to stop spamming on the chat for the recruitment of your guild really got under your skin. No harm was meant by doing so ,so if you took it personally i apologize it wasnt my goal .Simply expressed what most people think about spamming and abuse of the chat in game .The town crier option probably isnt well known by everyone ...

Fel naturally should be a much more difficult place.. Since PvP isn't allowed in Fel, it's only logical to have something to make it a tad more difficult.. Putting some of these new restrictions on pets, is a great thing really.. As Undertaker said:

Having not been to every peerless in-game.. I wasn't aware that there were any peerless in Tram... I thought that all the Tram locations of peerless were just empty dungeons.. Don't understand why they wouldn't all be placed in Fel.. Besides.. stealthing isn't the only "glitch/exploit" I've seen when it comes to Peerless dungeons.. ^.^

Sam's right about the fact that it's great being a part of something, such as Excelsior, that has dedicated staff.. But no matter how much it may be "free" here.. it always will be a democracy..

On a side note about the Town Crier's.. if people would be more inclined to look at the codex, they'd see where it states that you're able to have a personal message on the town crier's.. Check it out here..

Depending on your definition of spamming.. well, in either way.. "spamming" across public chat is discouraged, regardless of motive.. whether it be to sell something, to advertise a new vendor, to recruit for one's guild. etc... To me, once every hour isn't really that bad.. But I've seen once every 5 minutes.. ^.^

For the benefit of the perpetrator as well as any others who are unaware.. Here's a few tips to recruit for your guild:

-Try using the Brit Bank bulletin board.. quite a few people use it as well..
-How about the option mentioned earlier.. a personal message on the town crier's?
-word of mouth! Have your guildies party up with un-guilded players and hunt with them.. maybe they'll join after..
-Try using the guild board here on the forum.. it was added for guild related content..
-How about setting up a barkeep at your player vendor.. at your house who informs buyers of your recruitment status..
-Host guild sponsored events for the shard.. let everyone know, who participates, that you're recruiting..

and here's a good one:
-Create a guild website, and then post the link here in the forum!

There really are many routes to be taken to advertise your guild.. Despite the fluctuation of my total members, I've easily had close to 70 or 80 players pass through mine already by using these simple and LESS annoying tactics... However, I suppose it would be difficult to recruit when you have a standing reputation for attempting to sabotage guilds..

The following is clarification for those who may not know, therefore it is also a chance to learn something.

There are some attributes that could be equated to democratic persuasions, however more accurately encompassed under the 'benevolence' aspect of the dictatorship.

To state that a game world such as ours is a democracy simply does not make sense.

Well.. to be quite frank with you.. I think Excelsior is more totalitarian related style of government more than anything..

But as I said before, regardless of how you look at it.. it essentially IS a democracy.. Why?

Because, "we the people" are what makes this shard, and in a lot of instances, sadly.. some shard owners fail to remember that and let the whole "if you don't like this, then leave" sort of simple-mindedness control the way they run things. Without us players, this shard, or any other shard for that matter, would not exist.

Just because you have a lemonade stand.. sure, you can control the costs per glass.. and you can certainly control the style of business you perform.. but not catering to the desire and wishes of the majority of your customers, can certainly end any idea of business venture you may have..

Benevolent Dictatorship- a more modern version of enlightened absolutism, being an undemocratic or authoritarian leader who exercises his or her political power for the benefit of the people rather than exclusively for his or her own self-interest or benefit, or for the benefit of only a small portion of the people.

Excelsior or any other shard for that matter really doesn't fall under the category of a benevolent dictatorship.. Not when you have a good look at the definition of it..

It's simple really.. 2-3 years ago.. there used to be a ton of free shards.. but over time, players grew weary of the abuse of power, the tunnel visioned owners, etc.. Not to mention, the demise of UOGateway didn't help matters much.. Point is, despite whatever an owner, or his colleagues believe.. the players are what makes your shard.. not the time you put into it, nor the ego of the people who help run it.

I've never quite understood why some people see it as a dictatorship.. Compare that to something of Fidel Castro.. the only reason he is in power, is because people fear him. Much like people fear having opinions..

Take it as you wish.. everyone is entitled to their own opinions.. but democracy is the only true form of governing amongst free shards..

I know the definition very well, and I do believe that Excelsior falls under the category. I have been apart of the staff for years, and know +Colibri quite well; well enough to call it as I know it to be. The intentions of this shard are familiar to me, as I have also helped to mold them.

Players are those who take advantage of the world that has been created, taking the opportunity to enjoy it if they follow the guidelines that are set in place by the staff. There are many many players out there, and there is no need for any shard to become or conform to anything less then true to what they believe to be the right way, regardless of what players would think or expect. (There are always secondary options for players looking for something that is more closely resembling what they like.)

I will say that without hundreds of players and a mere 10 per day, we would still be here, enjoying the creation process, the fellowship with each other and the player base and the responsibility we have chosen to incorporate into our daily lives, out of the kindness of our hearts. This is what draws people to Excelsior; the care we take in everything that we do.

In the world of the internet, one will not get anywhere with fear tactics. The only thing one has to fear are the consequences of disregarding the rules. This is a healthy fear. There is a written codex and an ethical code that must be followed. Most players have no problem understanding this very elementary concept and therefore the problems that we run into are isolated and remedied.

As I have stated, this is not a democracy. Luckily, Excelsior has a mature and responsible staff.

As I stated before.. everyone is entitled to their own opinion, none of which can be stated as fact. The way you see something, isn't necessarily a view that would be shared by all. Your view, stems from that of being a staff member.. where, you are expected to some degree, to not have any issues with the shard. While us players, have every right, to expect more or less. I'm not debating the intentions of Excelsior, if it was anything less than what I thought it to be, I certainly would not be here.

I wouldn't quite use the terminology "taking advantage of", when it comes to us players being here on Excelsior. You, along with the rest of the staff team, have designed and orchestrated virtually one of the best servers available today. This is a free service, so in no way, can this shard ever truly be taken "advantage of". It is an "opportunity" as you partially described it.

Once again, you misinterpret what I stated.. I never said that Excelsior would fall should every player leave. Heck, there are easily a dozen or so shards out there now that have just their staff team enjoying the "creation process". I'm merely saying, that Excelsior would not be where it is today if it were not for dedicated players, and those who have donated, such as myself. Much like you, I'd enjoy the company of a few good friends.. but for myself, I'd enjoy that company of a few good friends, over that of a hundred morons.

As far as the codex goes.. I don't see where this ties in with the subject really. Unless you're making reference to my remark about "fear of having opinions". There may be a codex set in place here, or on any other shard.. but the one thing an owner/staffer can never do, and shouldn't do, is take away the God given right of an opinion. Which is simply what I've demonstrated in this thread. To me, despite how Excelsior is run, I see it as a democracy, whereas you.. see it as a dictatorship. That is the beauty of life, as well as gaming.. one's right to have an opinion, and a hearty discussion.. without fear of reprisal..

I do like your ironic referral to Excelsior being a charity service. You mentioned you do this out of the kindness of your heart.. me, personally.. when staffing, I do it because I love to.. not because I feel I need to, or to be "charitable".. But see, that's just another example of one's opinions.

Your reply, so far hasn't really covered my actual point; and that is, our opinions (the players), are what matters here. Staff can call it a dictatorship, but that typically comes from those who are all about the power that comes with staff.. and that is not only the dictatorship you speak of.. but it's also a "scare tactic".

1. Don't care about you telling me not to spam couldnt recall who told me ( and i was in my guidelines of not technically spamming maybe once i hit ctrl q ) and I just saw stuff you said that I made comment no hard feelings to be honest I was replying to some of your comments not the person who posted them.

2. I have my own personal world teleport and can get out of fel easy and I think its cheap! .

3. World teleport locked down in house is like having rune books but instead one item and can act as a money sink . I could also place it down as a world teleport locked down on my house for all to use but think a world teleport deed is a cool idea for the house

and oh yea 5. your right we do have a great staff don't care if you played when only 2 ppl where on (now i am picking on you on purpose now ) Owner of this shard can call it donations for whatever reason and he is the one that plays with the word I was just pointing out what the donations page says.

Anyways back to the original topic They fixed the FEl stuff everyone can recall out now.. nice and fast and jump around from champs to peerless with in seconds.. and I am agaisnt this. Fel should take time.
