Don't get me wrong, the keys make your life much easier. There's no arguing that. This is coming from someone who just got their first set of keys the other day and had been doing it the old way before.
However, using materials out of the keys won't really change much at all. I mean yes, you have a finite amount of storage space in your backpack. So here's what would happen.
I don't have keys. I am making bows. I throw 1400 boards in my pack from the bank and make 200 bows while standing next to the bank. I then chop them all back into lumber. This will repeat until I get my skill maxed out. It doesn't matter if I am using materials from the keys or not because I will never get overweight as it is. Once the skill is maxed, I might mix it up with some different lumber types for BOD's. At the most I might have to run to a bowyer to turn in the BOD. I could recall there directly though so it's not even like it takes time.
Do you see what I'm saying? The point is that the argument is against making things easier, but they are already easy. This change would only eliminate needless clicking. All of the other benefits you guys are using as arguments are already in the game right now. If anything, the keys make gathering easier. The way this system is now, crafting and resource gathering need all the help they can get anyway.
But yeah, the main point is that there is nothing stopping you from crafting something once you have the materials already. So why would making the actual crafting easier hurt anything?
Resource Use Straight From Keys
Re: Resource Use Straight From Keys
I dont know if that can help, but it is possible to purchase a bag of holding in wich you can put any stackable, regardless of the weight. I think only the large and the huge bag have this "no weight" attribute.

Add button to Said Key's to: remove all of one item listed, within weight restriction limitations, in to key owners bag or backpack.
No to using Reagent Keys as an a means to cast a contiguous amount of spells, thus negating the need to restock every once in awhile... and allow some one else there farming spot.
Yes to allowing Reagent Keys to be used to craft with, since the items crafted have a weight of their own.. and wont re-stack on the Reagent Key's afterwords.
Add button to Said keys to allow the owner of the keys to withdraw a certain amount of one such item listed on the Key's storage List.
Totally agrees with everyone who wished to make the keys more function able instead of a way just another way of simplifying the game to a point of utter boredom.
Totally agrees with those who posted saying that some things in the game are tedious and time consuming: "Welcome to Ultima Online, a game where you DO things!"

Criticism is good because it improves upon what came before, and solidifies the strongest of foundations.
