Have a story to tell? Just looking to make some easy cash? Enter Cygnus's short story writing event. Top 3 stories will win 5 million gp, 3 million gp, 1million gp respectively. All entrants will receive at least 50,000gp for turning in a submission and receive a unique collectible reward, plus a copy of your submitted story. The original will be forever enshrined in my library among the other great tomes written by fellow players.
This year, I will be looking for original content, Fantasy themed. Extra points will be awarded for those stories involving UO and especially Excelsior. I also added a few other stipulations which you can read in the rules book. Rest assured; no book will be turned away. Each submission will be graded using a weighted system and criteria. Spelling isn't one of them. What will carry the most weight will be the story itself. To see how the scoring is broken down, I have it all written down in the contest rules located on the 3rd floor, right wing of my library, under the dragon's head. You can take the stairs or use the teleporter with the book on it, first floor, right wing.
The contest will run through September, giving you plenty of time to develop and write your story. I will supply the first 60-page book for you. Additional books and pages can be purchased at any scribe. I have one at my library for your convenience.
For those not sure they can write a story, I have written a primer to help guide you or at least, give you the courage to give it a try. All my previous contests are on display on the 3rd floor and earlier works are displayed on the 2nd floor. I highly encourage you to look them over. Previous winners have been announced on the forums, so you can see which stories have won.
I hope to see you there. Feel free to give me a PM in game. I will respond as soon as possible.
If you don't like to write, but love to read, I can always use as many judges as possible. All judges' will be compensated, and their names will be confidential.
You can reach my library by going to House Gates. Look to the south east, green square tile, inner square.

Deathblow, please send me an in-game PM.
Re: Cygnus Writing Event 2024
Still not too late to enter. Please pm me for a starter pack which includes 60-page book and a rule book. All authors who turn in stories will receive a minimum of 50k gold with a chance of winning 5 million gold, and a collectable participation reward. In fact, if I get 5 more participants before the end of next week, I will bump the minimum to 100k for each participant.
Re: Cygnus Writing Event 2024
Bump.
This is a good opportunity to unleash your creativity.
Have something you wrote long ago? It might need a little tweaking but It's still a potential winner.
Need some new ideas?
The pond was devoid of life. There were no insects or frogs or minnows. He threw out a pebble into the oily water and it disappeared beneath the surface without a ripple.
The regulars were lounging at the Brit Bank when all of a sudden a gate appeared. Out of it rode Larry, Moe, and Curly Joe and they Cursed everyone in sight.
As the solar eclipse progressed the magery students looked at each other with curiosity as the leaves of the red maple overhead acted as a camera obscura and dappled them all with crescents of sunlight.
