Auction September 7th 2024

Post by +Colibri »

There will be an auction this Saturday, September 7th, at 22:00 shard time. (That's 6pm US eastern, 5pm central, 3pm pacific; midnight for central Europe; 8am Sunday morning for most Australians)

2024-09-07T01:28:59Z

There are no particular rules or specialities with this auction. There will be no re-auction.

Notes on some items:

The Personal World Teleporter is grandfathered to the player. After the auction I will do some tinkering to assign the grandfathering to the buyer. You can still lend it, or trade it, the no-mana-drain will not work for the other person. But after you get it back, it will continue to work with no-mana-drain for you.

The new addons created by the deco team: each author of the addon can chose to get a copy of their own addon (choice between that or a bigger gold reward), and usually most or all decide to get a copy for themselves. So keep in mind that you're likely not the only one to have it, but well the other copy is probably with the author, and not competing on the market with your unique-ish addon. These addons are intended to be sold again, multiple times over the years, but it's likely that another copy won't be sold for at least 6 months. (probably more considering we have had a batch of new addons on every auction since april)

As an Australian, I would much rather be up at midnight than 8am on a Sunday. I fully support the Auction time being put back 8-9 hours so gilga can waste their gold while completely sober. LOL

The 5 new addons are now on display, the rest of the items will be listed soon.

Oh, Bilbo Baggins there still needs clothes :)

As for the auction time, I think Saturday evenings around that time is so far the most optimal, but of course there's no optimal solution. The only true solution maybe for this, would be to have these items on auction-stones that have a 24-hour bid-timeout. That way, an auction could go on for a week or more, but timing wouldn't be an unfair issue anymore.

I vote for this!! Maybe this could be something done monthly, regardless if there is a traditional auction.

Since this Saturday will be my birthday, whoever wins the bridge over water deco, it would be cool if you could gift that to me. :lool:

Yeah maybe we could forego this regular auction event and just do an "automatic auction friendly to all timezones"... or maybe make all duplicates and sell there. Or split it around. Not sure how much of a priority to give this though so for now it's just an idea.

I vote we have the Auction as scheduled, and then set up the week-long stone thing for next time. There could even be multiple stones with staggered times, with the items randomly assigned to different stones?

I don't mind the idea of eBay style week long auctions on a stone. Would be good to do a pilot item to see if it works. A few things to consider, you could have the high bidder anonymous or named. Would be interesting to see if it went off eBay style with 90% of bids in final 2 minutes...

It is fun to get the shard together in one place for a live auction. See you Sunday mornin'.

Question about the auction stone:

Wouldn't the end date have the same problem with people bidding at the last second? What would be the difference with the real auction if the time is the current reasoning?

Perhaps a blind auction stone?

The usual solution is to extend the auction by 24 hours if someone bids within the last 24 hours.

If there was an auction every month or two, it could have different ending times. Say the first one is Midnight, the next one is 4am, etc
