Hello, UOEx... :)

Post by Wessek »

Hi everyone!

This is my first UO experience, I've just started downloading the client and will be online in an hour or so. Lemme introduce myself, from a gaming perspective:

I've been playing MMORPGs for about seven years, since I was 13. I absolutely love to socialize, learn from different communities and create characters that are more than just a bunch of coloured pixels: I like to live the games I play.

As I still don't know much about you all, and about the game itself, I won't go any further... :D

See you in-game!

Well let me be the first to welcome you to Excelsior!

I'm quite sure that you will enjoy your stay here, and should you require any assistance in-game, please, do not hesitate to ask! Whether it be from me, or from others in-game.

Having 7+ years of experience with MMORPGs will certainly benefit you here. Granted you may not be familiar with UO, but you will love it.

To get you started, you'll need to know a few basic things:

*To speak in public chat, type [c then whatever it is you wish to say. (Keep in mind this is a family-friendly shard, so vulgarity is not permitted!)

*In order to PM (Private Message) someone, just type [c and then find their name in the "Public" list. Click on the blue gem next to their name and choose the "Message" option.

*Upon log-in, you will find yourself in what is titled the "Town Center". There are a number of player owned vendors from which you can shop, but I recommend having some gold first! Don't be afraid to introduce yourself, and you are more than welcome to ask for assistance for a small tour. Trust me, some of this may be overwhelming, especially since this is your first UO experience.

*I strongly recommend looking over the actual Ultima Online Playguide, located here, in order to become more familiar with UO itself.

*Afterward, please check out our Wiki, for more info on the customs within the shard, as well as any other material you may want/need to reference in the future.

Other than that, I can't wait to see you in-game!

Welcome to Excelsior! :dance

Also, if you run into any difficulty with installing the game, etc. please don't hesitate to reply with whatever issue you run into and I will do my best to help out!

Thank you, Orbit!

I'm reading the player guide, and trying to get used to the in-game basics, such as moving, opening/closing inventory... heh I must confess this chat system is different from anything I've ever seen so it will take some time until I get to use it properly.

I've had a very warm welcome in-game, and that kinda surprised me. Everything seems so exciting, but also not that easy to get used to. Y'know, everything on-screen (except for the sword and trees maybe) seem to make no sense at all, lol.

Well, see you in my next report! xD

I can imagine if you haven't played UO before, how hard it is to 'see' the stuff in your backpack and whatnot. If you have some really high resolution, you might want to lower it, it'll make everything bigger, or ALT+Enter might work too.
