Opening a new facet for housing

Post by +Colibri »

Good news for all decorators and real-estate aficionados! On the weekend of 17th & 18th of August, new land will be opened to accomodate the need for housing space. More details will be posted in the following days, for now here's the basic info:

- The facet will be a clone of Malas.
- The land will open in segments, access to a new segment will be opened every few hours. We're keeping players of all timezones in mind, and some might be working on weekends, so this should allow a more fair distribution of house spaces among all players.
- Two of the smaller segments might even be postponed and would open during the following week.
- Magical pouches for marking runes to secret locations will be open at random times, all will be revealed in the weeks after the bulk of the facet becomes available.
- If you already have a house, you can move your existing house there. Or you can build a new one.
- Land inside Luna will likely be auctioned off one plot at a time. (perhaps locations around mook town as well).

I remember when Magda opened up - it wasn't completely filled on the first day. Actually, although right now it's completely packed, it took a while for all land to be filled with houses. So I think you don't have to worry about there being no space at all. But if you want any particular location that might be popular, or two side-by-side castles, then you might need some luck in getting it.

Updates

- August 11th - the sections and their opening times are now announced: http://www.uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=73701#p73701

-August 16th: New land can now be accessed, here's a post with a few notes about the land rush: http://www.uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=73780#p73780

The new facet will be opened in segments at different times. When the land opens, you will be able to move around freely and even mark runes, but the house placement tool will not allow you to place a house here, or to move an existing house to any of the areas if the time is still before the officially registered time. (the refresh might not be automatic, so you might have to move the location of the outline 1 tile for it all to refresh).

Saturday, August 17th at 15:00 shard time (11am eastern US): Crystal Fens [blue]
Saturday, August 17th at 18:00 shard time (2pm eastern US): Crumbling continent mainland [red]
Saturday, August 17th at 21:00 shard time(5pm eastern US): Northern parts [green]
Sunday, August 18th at 00:00 shard time (saturday 8pm eastern US): Crumbling continent islands [yellow]
Sunday, August 18th at 03:00 shard time (saturday 11pm eastern US): Grimswind ruins [red]
Sunday, August 18th at 09:00 shard time (5am eastern US): Abandoned orc fort area [green]
Sunday, August 18th at 15:00 shard time(11am eastern US): Northern crags (west, including 2 additional non-contigous snowy parts) [yellow]
Sunday, August 18th at 18:00 shard time (4pm eastern US): Gravewater lake [blue]
Sunday, August 18th at 20:00 shard time (6pm eastern US: Umbra suburbs [violet]
Tuesday, August 20th at 02:00 shard time (monday 10pm eastern US): Northern crags (east) [violet]
Wednesday, August 21st at 12:00 shard time (8am eastern US): Dry highlands [red]

- In case there's a delay, any segment that would open with a delay of more than an hour, will be postponed for exactly 7 days (to the next weekend). A few things still need to be coded, and although it shouldn't be a problem, it's good to have a backup plan just in case.
- Luna will be auctioned off in segments (at this time I don't have an ETA, the auction stone needs a little upgrade to allow long-lasting auctions).
- The rune pouches will spawn one at a time, at random times during september (from september 1st until the 30th).

Note, the times posted are in UTC / shard time, I've just edited the post to include times in the US Eastern daylight savings timezone.
If you want to check what the time difference between you and the server is, you can also use the [time command to see the current shard time, then you still have to do some math yourself.

Awesome, thanks Coli! Question...long ago there was talk of buying large plots of land (like a 5 x 5 grid of 18x18s)...that's no longer a thing correct? :D

That's still an idea on the wishlist, but didn't make it into this version of the housing upgrades. In the future we'll also add rentable or buyable pieces of instanced land, which will be different segments of various facets, possibly also plain flat land of green acres.

Hi +C,

When will the land open for scouting and the marking of runes? 1500 Saturday when the first area becomes placeable or will it open before that?

Thanks,
Wil

how to move an existing house in another land? There's a cost? Or it's possible via house menu system?

You can move your house for a cost of 200K tokens via the ownership section in your house sign.

The new facet is now open, you travel there with the World Teleporter, it's in the Malas menu.

A few more notes in preparation of tomorrow's land rush:
- As the sections open up, you can either place a new house, or move your existing house here. Since time is of the essence, you can already open up the house positioning menu (doubleclick the house placement tool, or go into your house menu and under Ownership click "Move or resize"), and go to your desired location, so that when a section opens up, you can just confirm the placement.
- If you have a house outline set on a piece of land that's currently unavailable, the positioning menu will say when it will open. The menu will also auto-refresh at the time of when the land is scheduled to free up, so all you have to do from there is to confirm the placement. Disclaimer: although this feature is well-tested, it's the first time we're going live with it, so in case it doesn't auto refresh, just move the house outline 1 tile in any direction, that should refresh it. If you're experiencing issues with the menu, you can also log off & login again. As a last resort, you can switch to the legacy house placement mode.
- There will be no manually assisted house placement from staff, just whoever is able to place it first, wins. If there are any major malfunctions, there could be a server revert and postponing of opening of some sections, but that's unlikely.
- If anyone figured out that you can have multiple house positioning menus open at the same time, this was an oversight and since the system isnt designed to handle multiple positionings, this is no longer possible.

Good luck to everoyne, I hope you get some good spots!

See you tomorrow at 15:00 shard time for the availability of the first section, Crystal fens (southern part of the Luna continent).

Can we move a 1-slot grandfathered castle without losing the grandfathering?

According to the post +C made the 1 slot grandfather only lasted until the new housing placement system went into place, so I would say no, you will lose the 1 slot grandfather. But that is just is just a guess. To me it seems like a new castle if you are moving it.
All existing castles placed until this system goes into effect will be grandfathered for the current owner

Castles & 1-slot gandfathering: castles remain grandfathered if you move them. They only become 2-slotted if they are transfered to another player.

First section just opened up, the spot north of the path leading out of luna towards east, was most popular. Congrats to Aira who was able to place a keep there. There's a lot of house outlines in this picture :)
