Gaara - No, that is correct. If you fight a boss and fail, you fail the quest. However if you've been a jerk and collected a ton of the books saying "save christmas" in order to try and complete the quest multiple times, the system that moves you in to any one of the 3 bosses will not trigger, your boss summoning item will expire, and you will fail the quest.

Aryck, you can consider yourself barred from the winter event for a week. Try being polite next time.

Everyone else - I'll look into tweaking the drop rates for the reindeer quest. The spawn rates are already as fast as we can make them without potentially causing major lag.

I don't think Id want them to spawn faster in the wee hours of the morning before people woke up that place was pretty darn scary at times

If areas keep being nerfed (again) you should expect people to complain about it.

This is an area that is temporary, open only one month a year. An event area. It needs to be fair for less-geared people as well as geared people. Unless I take away your gear, which you'd have complained about like you did the last event we took gear for, then healing needs to be limited to provide challenge to those who are geared without making it far too hard (by increasing the mob difficulty to epic proportions) for those who don't have insta-heal yet. It's unlikely that the facets will limit healing, since we have much more leeway in terms of making it tailored specifically to fully geared players without having to worry about accommodating those without 10+ relayers. Yoda and Alex managed to provide constructive input without being snotty and rude, you might consider trying it in the future. Making snide remarks instead of being helpful isn't appropriate.

Drive-by sarcasm is not a method of expressing a concern or complaint that merits any respect or consideration.

Further posts in this thread made by you that are not specifically related to this quest or presented respectfully (or at least neutrally) will be deleted.

You have been warned.

I would like to respectfully question to the point of having easy and hard quests, when you go out of your way to accommodate noobies so that the hard quest is doable by them?

Bring on the fire breath, bring on the mortal strike, these things keep me on my toes, but nerfing an area that is supposed to be hard and for more experienced players so less experienced players can have a fair shot seems counter intuitive. It may be more fair for them but less fair to those of us who have been here more than a week and have put lots of time (and money in some cases) into our gear.

Generally speaking, the hard quest is going to be really hard for anyone with 6 relayers or less. We tested it last year to be a very tough challenge for someone with 6 relayers, but that means it was a cakewalk for anyone with 8+. If I remember correctly, before we modified healing, Cornbread was able to do all of the quests without losing even 25% of his health. That defeated the purpose of the quests we'd spent so long developing, and there's no practical fix to that except what we've done. Thus, healing diminished. The other quests, meant to be accessible to almost everyone on the shard excepting the very lowest geared tier (and even they can complete those quests with the help of friends/guildmates), have it diminished for essentially the same reason but with the bar set lower for overall difficulty.

Well first I'd like to thank the Gm's for the hard work put into the quests. Second, I see no need for the arguing. As a noob, almost a year old but severely undergeared I'd like to say I definitely do not think the hard quest is doable for someone with my stats, gear, etc, as I can barely get away from the amount of mobs merely to complete the collecting easy quest. It has been a blast however. I may be weak and probably shouldn't bother being ungeared and everything but I have one silver ore left to collect and I am diligent. I am getting that silver ore! Lol. :)

Again thank you guys for the quests something to do on those chilly winter days.

Reindeer Quest updated:

- Most mobs' HP has been decreased marginally
- Drop rates on the quest items should be much more reasonable now
- Some mobs will spawn more quantity
- Some mobs have had their overall STR reduced.
- Yetis no longer stun

Ideally this quest should now take a well-geared, efficient player 1.5-2hrs to complete.

thanks the fix helped with the drops.... it was amazing with the volume of players in there the stream of ghosts running to the res stone, and we are talking about fully relayered people too...

if anything it shows the effectiveness of stun/para/mortalstrike in grouped monsters the diminished heal pronounces this effect greatly.

My only real frustration is that I have trouble handling more than 2 or 3 of the mobiles in the artistic quest and need others there to do it. (Well, that and having those witches dragged up to the sparkles areas as they are useless to me and make life much harder.)

That is more a function of me being weaker than I thought, and the mods having to balance out the top end guys.

It's almost as frustrating as walking into the area and seeing 20 or 30 dead mobiles and no live ones.

I have added a wall between the res area and the santa quest area that will prevent the monsters from crossing into the safe zone. However, to prevent exploiting, there is a 10 second delay to leave the Santa area and enter the safe zone.

Completed my first run at the reindeer quest, took about 3 hours and 2 deaths. I can probably cut it closer to 2 hours with my new found experience, but the quest can definitely be challenging / frustrating for ill-prepared adventurers.

Spawn rate may be a bit overbearing particularly if there are only a few players doing the quest (monsters were spawning faster than i can kill them), but unless there's constant tweaking based on the number of players in the event area, it would be difficult to get an appropriate spawn rate. I suppose its better to keep the spawn rate high in case the are many players are doing the quest.

Got a snowman to boast, so good luck all.
