Possible Event?
I was thinking that what if the Gm's hosted a sort of roleplaying event. There would be two roles, possibly three. The setting would be a bank, the roles guards/police, and robbers (third role civilians?). So what I was thinking was the bad guys (robbers) have to make their way through a bunch of guards and traps that Gm's might conjure up to make it to the vault where they get the moniez possibly checks or something light so they could carry it or heavier to make it more of a challenge and their goal is to get the money from the vault back to outside or somewhere. The guards/police would be able to slay the robbers and pick up the money and take it back to the vault if thats possible, and the robbers in turn also try to slay the guards here and there if they wish on the way to the vault and back out and take the checks from the guards bodies as well(if thats possible not sure how looting bodies would work with players). So it's sort of a pvp but with a goal robbers get the money and take it to base essentially capture the flag. Possibly the robbers have a certain ammount of time to accumulate a certain ammount of money or take all the money in a certain time or no time and just grab the booty but that can be decided later perhaps by players, Gm's or both. But I think some custom gear could be given out to level the playing fields a bit so robbers dont automatically win or lose. As for if there are civilians no idea; if there were civilians they might be able to steal from the robbers or something not too sure. Well what do you think any opinions/suggestions? ;3

Strikes me as a little too close to real life violent themes and anti-authority / anti-police actions that are becoming more and more prevalent as the world economy continues to waffle. Please understand that the previous statement is not an invitation for people to justify why they hate authority. ^_^ Honey Badger Don't Care!
A 'thief' themed PvE event might be fun and interesting if you have to steal from monsters and sneak around like Bilbo in Smaug's lair or something like that is cool for rogue preference style players.
But, PVP staged as good players vs. bad players in scenarios of cops vs. robbers / guards & civilians vs. thieves, sounds like it could get ethically sticky and icky pretty fast. It's sort of a blow to the thin veneer of law governed civilization that we humans cling to IRL.

well i'm not big in government as the name implies. we should use a different theme as viola suggests. funny there was a study in the 1970's where they took 30 people; normal people. 10 were jailers and 20 were prisoners. they had to shut down the experiment after 3 months. the acting prisoners acted like real life prisoner; they fought, and did other bad things. The 10 guards have also became corrupt. they started selling things to the offenders; ie, drugs, bully, and blackmail.
the reason why i brought that up is because when people roleplay sometimes they take it too far, or people aren't right in the head to know the difference. yeah i doubt there is anyone like that here, but you never know what kids/adults will do in life.
if anything i like viola's idea of the hobbit.
going around trying to steal from nasties would be fun and interesting. to open the next door steal this and open the door. here's the catch.... if you get revealed. your out. hm... kind of like red light, green light with a twist.
not saying your idea is a bad one red.

Re: Possible Event?
I think oddly enough its people being hyper sensitive about things like this, that makes it an issue. Really, in the environment that this 'event' would be held in, this behavior is already being encouraged. Whats the difference between stealing from a dragon and stealing from a bank? You're still stealing. So if we are to take all sense of morality into account, then we wouldn't be having any kind of event with a stealing theme. If you dont like the theme, dont participate. If you dont want your kids to participate in the theme, dont let them? I understand its a 'family' shard, but I think there should still be something tailored for those that aren't here for the 'family' orientation specifically.
I personally like the idea. If not this theme in particular, it would be nice to see more PvP events in general. I think it would attract more people that stay away from the shard because of the lack of PvP, if we had them more often.
What about several teams of 5-10 players that are given nothing but tools and a small shop with nearby resources and they have 30 minutes to build there equips/tame pets etc and defend there 'shop'/conquer their rivals?
-or-
drunken boxing. GMs make a boxing ring. players strip down, get drunk on a special GM concocted drink that would randomly change the players stats while 'drunk' and 2 players at a time fight until dead.
(of course Irish players are banned from such an event

Interesting couple of ideas here... I am wondering if a couple of aligned guilds could create something like these within their own group. Either way...Leivite wrote:What about several teams of 5-10 players that are given nothing but tools and a small shop with nearby resources and they have 30 minutes to build there equips/tame pets etc and defend there 'shop'/conquer their rivals?
