Returning Player - Where to go to hunt?

Post by marcelomusza »

Hi everyone!
I played here so long ago, around 2010 and I had a great time back then. Unfortunately I lost the char I had so I started one from scratch and I barely remember anything, so I'd like to ask you a few questions if you don't mind!

1) I am building a melee toon with the following skills:
GM Swords, GM Lumber, GM Animal Taming. And the rest of the usual warrior skills as well. Any advice on how to progress with this build? I always loved the axer kind of way of UO, and I know this is a very animal taming shard, so I think it could be a good combonation. Any suggestions to improve on this?

2) Could you suggest places to go hunting? with 2 things in mind, gear up and make money.
I have a nightmare which I'm training, but it is still lowbie, not even bonded so I want to take care of her. What options do I have to hunt? I know Tokuno Dojo and Shame, places I was investigating a bit, but I'd like to know what other places I could be able to go, in my current conditions.

Thanks all for your feedback, and hope to see you ingame!

In case no one has told you there is no cap on skills on this shard. So you can get all the skills you want. I would recommend Chivalry and Spirit Speak, and then get the Clerical spell book ( not a skill, but it uses Spirit Speak ) The clerical spells are very useful.

Also if you got a +20 skill ball for being a new player then use it on taming.

If you need anything in game or have questions PM me. I am usually playing Villbo.

Good luck!

If start from a fresh account then check out newbie dungeon, you can get some easy gold there from the quest and organic materials.
After your account is 21 days old (or 30?) go to mistvale and get the gear from there.

Hi folks thanks for your replies!
I forgot to mention, I'm using my account which is quite old, so no newbie status, I tried but I can't enter into the newbie dungeron for the organic quest. Neither I can get the basic newbie stuff from the donation room.

Good suggestion about the skills I will work on those, I do remember about the no skill cap that's cool.

What other areas would you suggest to go hunting?

Thanks!

Find someone with a trainer so you can get all your skills up fast. I can let you use mine if you need. A self tamed nightmare is not all that great, need to get some mules if you plan on using animals to kill. Hit me up in game if you want to hunt, me and my friend love hunting in fel for the adventure/risk of it.

There are no specialist characters here, so no "melee toon" distinction.

Most fresh tames (including nightmares) are junk, even when fully trained. Buy a player-bred mule (1100 hp, 1000 str, poison immunity). They don't cost all that much, GM taming and animal lore is enough to control it and it'll work out better for you.
