The BoD Exchange [An idea]

Hello folks!
I'm not sure if this is the right area for this post, if it's not just let me know and I'll kindly move it
To start, let's just say I have an unhealthy addiction to BoD's. They're an area of the game where I just fell in love with. It gave the crafter a purpose! A goal to log on a play for more than just a few hours a day. Unfortunately, I didn't have the resources to continue to pay EA monthly to continue my habits, so I have made my home here at Excelsior to get my fix. In fact, all of my skills/stats/gold exist soley for BoD's, yet I digress.
I had an idea to try to start up on this server, so here it goes!
Back when I played real UO servers, a group of buddies and I started up what we liked to call the 'BoD Exchange.'
We kept an active log of all unused BoD's and a log of all BoD's we currently needed but were having trouble finding. The idea was simple, post the BoD that we didn't need or had no desire to do and also the BoD's we needed in hopes that another participant had the one we needed. The idea was to have 2 people exchange smaller BoD's to help fill their larger BoD's more quickly and try to save a bit of cash along the way.
Here would be just a quick idea of how to post things.
IN STOCK:
Leather:
10 Studded Gorgets/Polar/Exceptional
IN NEED:
Cloth:
20 Surcoats/Exceptional.
I've run across a few players on this shard struggling to find that one last BoD to fill up an order, so it inspired me to try this again. If anything, we can all make a few new friends along the way and keep the crafting community alive! Anyway, post your ideas or thoughts on it, and let's see if we can't get the ball rolling!

sounds like a great idea! any suggestions on implementation that doesn't involve +C writing a new script? dedicated website? in game books? someone with a lot of time and good at writing databases?

Glad to finally see some responses.
In response to the idea of implementing a system a system I figured we could just use the forums here. I'm not too sure where the official thread would go, but it would be easy to maintain. Also, I'm sure if it got big enough with a few dedicated people I'm sure we could make communication easier and help the flow along.
Also, I just used tailoring as an example as my main profession is tailoring. Obviously all BoD's are welcome

Can we also find out where all the vendors with BOD books are? Like I've said in-game before, bod books with bods for sale in them aren't set with a price for the whole book, so vendors.uoex.net doesn't list them in searches. I wonder if the person who supports vendors.uoex can change the search to make it include certain items without a price.
Trinsic
Name: Taming BODs - has multiple books with large and small taming bods
EXE Emporium
Name: Erebus - Large Fletching BODs and Large Blacksmith BODs.
Woodland's Shop: Custom->House Gates->Right to shield->green gate to the right, between light green and dark blue gates.
Name: BOD Buddy - Has a few Tailoring and Carpentry BODs
Custom->House Gates->Orange gate, left side, between a white and purple gate (has a pet on it currently)
Many vendors with Taming and Smithing BODs, color coded and lined up. (just saw this one)
edit: now called Bods and PM with offers (Kassidee) on the shops teleport. Looks like she is putting in Carpentry bods also.

This is a great idea and I would also liked to be able to do it real-time. I wish we could have a specific trade or BOD channel to trade/sell/request all type of BOD's. Same as we have a public channel [c and a guild channel [g why can't we have a trade [t channel?
This will allow people to trade stuff in real time and without upsetting the peeps at the public channel... cause so far all the selling and daily chit chat is done in that ONLY channel. And also cause I am not sure how many people check the forums at all and it might be a while for someone to reply when they have THAT bod that you need.

Hey guys! Sorry it's taken me a while to get back.
I'm currently writing out a general guide line and a rough draft for the official BoD Exchange thread

Seems like word has been spreading pretty good so it's time to finally get everything in motion, look for it soon!

Doing it this way will get very messy. What if everyone locked down their BOD books at their houses and there was 1 central house where everyone's runes would be located. People can hit those runes and visit each players house and peruse their BODs, then message accordingly.

Funny you mention that, Aaron. A friend of mine and I were trying to figure out a way to use a house deed we have and use it for the BoD exchange. If anything just a meeting point to chat and talk, but the rune idea could work.
The only problem I foresee with that was this idea was an attempt to cut out house/vendor surfing and to have all available BoD's people are willing to part with in one, easy to access area. (ie: The forums) That system would put back in more recalling back and forth and surfing through more houses for BoDs we need.
Again, this isn't a bad idea and would be a nice idea for when things are up and running so I appreciate the idea. Everything is still in beta mode right now, but I'm sure once things get rolling and everything gets smoothed out it will be a well oiled machine

I have just spent a few minutes working with Google Docs and managed to get a form set up that will dump the results into a spreadsheet that is searchable using Google Fusion Tables. Is everybody still interested in getting this up and running?

Well, I have basically made a Google Spreadsheet that uses a form for input and then auto-publishes when changes are made. I think the best way to use the SS is to have it be open for all to edit, this way no one person is in charge of updating it as when trades are made, rows need to be deleted, etc. Here is the link to the form:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/vie ... bEE6MQ&ifq
Once you submit you can click on a link to the sheet or enter another BOD. If you click on the Filter tool (last one in the row of tools) you can filter by any of the fields. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Ok I think I have figured out how we can do this. Each interested party downloads the form and sheet that I have created and puts it into their own Google account. We then publish them and each of us uses Google Fusion Tables to pull all the data into one place. This way, everybody is in charge of their own Have/Need list (adding and removing entries) and there can't be any accidental loss of anybody else's data. I'd love to see this take off and be useful to everybody.
