Here is one from 26/11/2010 that didn't happen:

http://www.uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3115

As for the one your talking about:

http://www.uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5365

There was a vote to rebook it:

http://www.uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php ... 916#p32916

But again it didn't happen.

My guess is these will never happen, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

"My guess is these will never happen, but I'd love to be proven wrong."

I have a busy and demanding job outside of this shard. I am NOT a contracted employee here, my hours here are donated from the hours I have left over from fulfilling my professional career. Right now, I am on my spring break from work and I am still working on multiple projects behind the scenes.

This whole storyline started July 21, 2009. It will be concluded. Life may get in the way, but that is life.

It will be ready when it is ready.

And thank you very much for your time.

As well, your events are always phenomenal! Far better than anything OSI could ever put together.

Thank you for all the work you guys do. As a former GM,I know all too well the grief that you catch on a regular basis. Looking forward to the event.

Image Vaguely unkind remarks like this are a fine example of why we sometimes choose to work on other projects rather than run events.

Remember folks, we are people too and we donate our time here. If we are getting snarked at or see players talking poorly about us - whether it be on the forums or in game - we're not going to feel like doing a whole lot of helping or event running. So please take a moment to think before you post/speak, how would you feel if you were in our shoes?

The problem is that the news are seriously lacking. I completely understand that you, GMs, have your own life, as everyone else. No one is trying to snark at you for that (at least no one sane ;) ). It's just the silence that is in regards to most (if not all) events is getting to the players. You know the event is coming - you are working on it whenever you can, polishing to make it as best of an experience as possible. But remember that the player have no idea what is happening "behind the scenes". All they hear and see is... well, nothing. I'll take +V's event as an example - the date was set, but had to be moved. Ok, happens. The semi-official new date was the first week of march. Didn't happen, no word from +V. And it did not happen the next week or the week after that and so on. And all this time there was no information at all. I believe that a simple "Hey guys, the even is taking longer than expected to prepare, you will have to wait a few more weeks, maybe longer, but it will come." would eliminate a lot of grumbling and snarking. As the first post suggests, the events are that good, that people actually plan in advance just to be in one of them. I would simply ask the GMs to give players at least some snippets of knowledge to plan their time accordingly and officially know that something is indeed being worked on - there are surprises, granted, but not everything needs to be one. And don't make it so that only trolling gets anything out of you.
So please take a moment to think before you post/speak, how would you feel if you were in our shoes?
Some of us take that time, I know I do. But I ask that you sometimes do the same for us, players.

Image Vaguely unkind remarks like this
Are you honesty kidding me? I made a guess based on the facts.

Facts:
-An event gets posted 26/11/2010 and is said to be coming soon
-After six pages and three months of people excitedly planning strategies +V says "I suppose its time for me to start working on this again" and this is our last official comment about this event in the last year
-we have had other events in this story line since then with no mention of this event

As for the facts of the second event:
-Posted and scheduled
-cancelled, a vote is held to pick a new date
-cancelled, re-bboked for first week of March
-apparently cancelled, but not word in the thread from staff regarding it's cancelation or re-booking

So I make a guess based on the aforementioned facts. I think everyone will agree, my guess is the only logical guess that anyone could make based on the facts. I wasn't rude about it, I even said I'd love to be proven wrong.
+Nyx wrote: If we are getting snarked at or see players talking poorly about us - whether it be on the forums or in game - we're not going to feel like doing a whole lot of helping or event running.
Then you add this suggesting that I snarked or talked poorly about staff. Clearly I just made a logical guess based on the facts. I didn't add any snide or negative remarks.
+Nyx wrote:we're not going to feel like doing a whole lot of helping or event running.
Then you add this, clearly a threat, I also see it as you clearly attempting to turn other players against me. Again all i did was make a reasonable guess based on the facts, added nothing rude or negative in any way this is what i get for it? Ridiculous!

I play here to have a good time, and I wake up today to this. Posts like this from staff push players away from the shard. I know so many players that have left the shard because of posts and treatment from staff like this. I shouldn't have to wake up to attack forum messages.

I never break the rules of the shard, I answer questions on [c and in the forums. I impart knowledge and help new players, and i give just about every "young" player I come in contact with 100k or more to get them started. I vote daily and encourage others to do so. I do everything i can to protect and promote this shard. I make a guess based on the facts and this is what i get?

If my guess offends you as staff, then maybe you should grow some thicker skin. Or better yet, don't post events that aren't going to happen within a reasonable amount of time.

Yes, you donate your time here, everyone values that. But being a representative of this (or any shard) should come with a level of responsibility and professionalism. Posting events that don't happen for over a year and not giving any information is not professional behaviour. Calling out a player for making a guess based on the facts that staff have created is not professional or responsible in my opinion. Yes, you volunteer your time, at the same time, I wonder how many players would be willing to donate their time to staffing? Umm, I'm willing to say 90% of the shard would be willing. Being staff is an honour and should feel like such, if it's beginning to feel like work to you, then maybe you've been staff too long?

Frankly sir, when i read your post even before any other responses were posted, I too found it quite rude and disrespectful. I read that as you saying V+ doesnt give a rat's behind whether that project of his gets finished or not! Have you not noticed the work he has done in Felluca Britain? I don't think V+ owes anyone an explanation of anything! Whenever, and if ever he finishes work on that event and allows us to enjoy its content I personally will be grateful for the work he has put into it. What reasons certain people on this shard have to continually challenge the staff in this manner really eludes me. Nyx and V have given us some mighty enjoyable quests over the last year that I've been here, and I'm thankful to them for the content they bring us! Perhaps if we can get it thru to our brains that they don't OWE us anything, that they VOLUNTEER their time, that they have LIVES outside of Excelsior, that anything they do for you can be conceived as a FAVOR and not a responsibility, that whatever they do or don't do they are not answerable to players!!!

Of course I've seen all the additions, they rock. Anything event or otherwise we get is a wonderful gift that I've always appreciated. I'm not allowed to guess that a couple events from days gone by might not happen? If they don't I don't even care. Honestly, no need for everyone to be so sensative.
