Your First UO Experience

I'd like to know what your very first experience with UO was? What happened? So on so forth.

I'll start. I can't recall the year at this point but it was shortly after the release of T2A. My earliest recollection was starting in Moonglow not knowing what the heck to do and being terrified to leave the gates of the city. Somehow, I managed to equip myself with the best the Moonglow smithy could muster for me. I then stood at the gates of West Moonglow. Before me, a great hart. Pff...can't be that great... so I attempted to make dinner of it. This plan failed miserably as I found myself running through Moonglow with little stamina and even less health. The guards were of little help, in fact if they could, I'm sure they were laughing. It's all a blur after that, so either I died or found sanctuary from the deer but hey, I didn't have a clue starting out!

So, whose next?

I never played computer games that many/most still play. But many years ago a friend met a new guy to our town irl. He played ultima online. He got my friend irl to play. My irl friend played ultima online for long time that he even smelled like BO. Anyways he got me to play ultima online. I played a sphere shard and fell in love with it. Didn't know anything about UO or what to do to much. I had msn messenger and added people that played uo on it.. including the owner. I talked to owner few times and realizing things that could be fixed/done. He gave me a admin account on a shard that many were playing and imo looking back was bad idea for an owner to give such newbie privs.. i didn't know scripting/commands/programs that assisted staff. I pretty much was trying things out and moved things on the admin account. Come to find out once you move something in game and move it it stays there forever being admin account. So pretty much I deleted the stuff and thought it go back but never did. So pretty much messed up the map and capture the flag start botton. So later a staff held a tourney and it didnt start due to it being deleted by me. SO everybody getting mad. Another thing was many times on sphere shards Ive played on as a player it was funny when people would post there screen shots of something yet they forgot to close out of there speedhack program they used (which is illegal on all shards Ive played) so pretty funny he got busted.

first time i played uo was in 1997 when it was first released. i had pre-ordered it so i was sure to get it first. after the excitement i ripped open the box and broke my disk in the process. bummer was mad had to go back to the store and get a new one (yes i'm positive it came this way). brought it home and carefully took the disk out of the box and into my high powered 500 meg processor with my hugh 10 gig hard drive. i first popped into moonglow but with the 56k modem i was rocking; there was a lot of lag. luckily enough for me i wasn't dumb enough to take on a deer, and so instead i took on a jack rabbit. he chased me around moonglow for a good 5 mins till i said ah well and died. disappointed i put the game away. then a friend of mine in 1998 told me of "player ran shards" i didn't know what this was so i decided to give it a try. first shard was britannia 2 (closed). this was a osi clone shard 7gm max skills. after being there for awhile i decided i was getting sick of playing with 10 people, i then went to age of mondain (closed). <--pk shard. i was invited to become staff, and some people were saying that i was giving my player account items, which i wasn't :(. my guild mercs destroyed all players new and old till everyone quit and the shard was closed down. then i went to athlore (closed), which was also a pvm, and pvp shard. found numerous bugs in the sphere and found one that i called the alchol bug. (drink a lot bringing stats down then kill your self, when you have ressed your stats would double). me and the staff talked to Eagle from sphere and found where the problem was, which kind of sucked because then i got random icq messages from admins all over. :( from there my whole guild (300+) went over to exuo where we pked at our hearts desire. ganks were left and right, but it was getting old fast. around 2003 i decided to try more of a runuo shards and found out it was a little better with more customs, but then it became more of gear than skill in timing or line of sight. :( so in 2009 i ended up here :)

Well my first was as 2nd age( they are still around) i went there with 3 friends from a different game and hated it. It was pk, pvp, and you never had a safe place. I believe we was there for about 6 weeks. But I did go back play other game at same time and then one of them found this place. Nice to be able to walk around and not have a thief take all your stuff and not have everyone want to pk you cuz you have nice stuff on. I don't play much now as I'm on dial up for a while hug's all.

The year... 1996...
I got into the beta, along with a bunch of others. I was a late addon to the beta, and was also 14 at the time. I logged in, and looked at the character creation screen. I had decided to play a lumberjack. So there I was outside Yew, chopping away when I see a nice looking person with a bone helmet named KillahCloun or some-such-thing. His sprite showed red when I hovered over it, and I thought to myself... "well, he looks nice"

So then I was wandering around as a ghost... I decided to go for the "instant rez" option, thinking "a % of my skills?? they are low anyway... why not?" I then tracked down KillahCloun and hit him a few more times. died. tried again. I kept thinking that eventually he'd go down. nope. Eventually had zero skills, and made a new character. Decided that PKs annoyed me, and dedicated my game-life to making them as miserable as they made other people. =)

cant remember the year but, It was a shard my brother was playing on, i remember starting in britain by the graveyard, because the class i started i had full suit of plate, although the stamina stats i chose, were too low and when i was running i ran out of stamina, i looked at myself then i looked at a zombie and thought i can take him, oh how wrong i was. I died once, then twice then three times and so on, untill my brother logged on i was doomed, but i was hooked, he became GM on the shard and scripted some epic race scripts, and had a leveling system, highest level was 60 as i rememeber. Although u loved it back then i struggle now, with time and figuring stuff out. Will never be the best but Meh not much can stand up to m noble army!!
