Christmas or at least the weeks leading up to it, is my least favourite time of the year. It is summer in Aus so 35 degrees Celicius everyday, not so good when you work in a hot commercial kitchen.

While everyone is out having their christmas parties, im catering for them. It is always at least 50% busier.

Ive had somewhat of a bad day so thought id compile a list of things i hate

* In 5 tries to make DNA vials i have failed twice. 90% chance to make im sitting at 60%. 10k organics gone for nothing. WIth the work and time it takes to get to an amount of luck where you can actually sample, the vials for sampling mimic (i have about 40 garbage dna vials) and the other attributes I dont get why its not a 100% chance to create. Especially with 120 tinkering and 120 taming. (more time and effort). You can barely give bios away atm. With the emergence of imp pets bios are becoming obselete. Its hard enough to get affordable organics.

* Mortal strike..... I will say it again.... Mortal strike. I am proud of my abilty to melee things. Took me some time to get to this stage. Everything new in the game now has mortal strike. Titan guardians, all new areas, all events. Mortal strike does little if anything to effect people with taming, yet makes the life of a dexxer hell. To me it just seems like another way to drive people away from melee and get into taming. If i believed I would get what its worth i would be very close to selling all my relayers and gear and just playing as a tamer. This shard seems to be more and more geared towards tamers and using pets.

* Pet breeding. Breeding failed.... breeding failed..... I think there has been a few posts about this so ill leave it there.

* People who are doing champs with 3 people and dont let you in. An extra person would not effect you in any way, it will only drop 3 PS instead of 4. If anything it would allow more PSs on the market.

* People not reading the wiki....

* People who lure mobs onto you in order to kill you...

* Umbris camp. You could even say i am a little racist towards umbrians.... Dont like em at all.

* Doing a taming bod to get shadow leather.

* Not being able to sell hive gear for more than 100k. I could sell the wax and token for more money that what a hive robe costs.

* the fact that i missed an event where a cape was given as a reward. In my opion it will be worth more than 9 oints and 90k gold in years to come. It is one of the few spots there is no items with stats in the game. Spewin i missed it

* How much press Favres injury is getting. People who say happy christmas instead of merry christmas. The fact that another year is about to start. I feel old. I know the last few have nothing to do with the shard.... but i thought id add them.

Now that I have that off my chest, me thinks ill get ready for work.

wow you are just not having the best holiday luck are you. well to make you feel like part of the gang i hate this time of year as well. always seems to be the time of year when everyone just sits down and shares a lot of bull, the family fights over who got more gifts (not the fact we even have a family) and i cant stand to see what kind of junk santa delivered to my house. i mean its the thought that counts but ive always had a crummy holiday this one just takes the cake. heres why:

my family isnt complete, my father isnt here, hes kinda gone.. like never coming back gone. i mean sometimes you get those return of the doom backs but not even going to get one of those, nope just gone. My mother spends the whole month of december telling the children (mind you she had quite a few of us, last count was at 10) that she is telling santa were all bad so we get coal, that was supposed to get us to behave. i think of it as yay barbque.. or better yet finally a treat i can love.. lol. when we finally do open the gifts nothing is of use. its like junk were never gonna get to play with and if we do its in the salvation army like a week later, waste of her money though so i guess not really a loss on me.. and everyone is grubby. i mean its like a holiday to celebrate togetherness and all everyone cares about is a price tag... right?!

of course i never really liked any holidays..

now that ive said my part... hope your holiday picks up. and mine to i got kids to shop for lol. so dont take it personal sometimes you just need to see the bigger picture.. i guess. *rumages around* now where did i put that picture...

Wow this is depressing... The highest rate of suicides happens during the Christmas season. Merry Christmas!

Things I like about Christmas :

Christmas lights!
Gingerbread houses!
Candy canes!
Waking up to snow on Christmas Morning - doesn't always happen here, but it has a time or two.
Being with my immediate family

Things I hate about Christmas:

The way it seems to "start" in stores earlier every year.
The way grown people behave on Black Friday.
The glut of Christmas movies.. Seems most every one nowadays has to do with Santa not up to the job anymore and having his name and job taken over.. by a puppy.. and his daughters.. Whoopi Goldberg.
Being with others in my family - you know, the ones you ONLY see on the holidays..

My goal isn't to drive people from melee, but to level the playing field. If it wasn't for monsters on this shard with Mortal Strike or Paralyzing Blow, the 220+ Dex player gaming experience would not be all that different from firing up DOOM II and typing in "IDDQD". I realize people work hard and pay a lot for their gear, but should invulnerability be available? Yes, I realize there are still fire breathing monsters that can kill anyone in one breath (Fire Ruby Dragon, Ice Wyrm, Chief Parox), but there is only one spawn for each and these are not encountered regularly.

Should all hard hitting monsters have mortal strike and any other move that keeps a player from using the healing skill be removed or changed? Should I change the Umbris Camp so any player with 220+ Dex can run in with their looping [bandself, target nearest non-friendly, enable whirlwind macro, so they can just waltz right in and grab the new artifacts? Should I just keep the Titan's Hammer spawn open to AFK camping where people can make a looping heal, auto-retaliate, and auto-hide macro while they are running a steal nearest war hammer script?

Not trying to screw over the high dex group...just trying to keep the game fresh for them.

...Also, I too believe taming is in need of some changes. But, that is not my call. However, my content and events are my call.

Thanks for taking the time to reply I didnt really expect a response. It was all really just a way for me to vent. I do understand the need for mortal strike. I understand the game would get boring with a near immortal toon. I was just having a whine more than anything. My statement is prolly more towards how unbalanced it is with pets and meleers (is that a word?) Wish there was a special that carried damage over to the pet owner or something.

I should have prefixed my statement with "Dont take this too seriously. Just a list of things that drive me nuts."

Please dont in any way think i am unappreciative of your efforts re: making the shard better. The thankless work you do is what makes the shard what it is. Without the numerous events and new areas the shard would be infinately worse off. So please take my statements in the spirit i meant them and with a grain of salt. (not sure what that expression means....) I was just having a whine and compiling a list of my pet peeves....

So please, except my apologies if you felt in any way i was having a go at what you do....

I don't like Christmas either. Most years it's always been a huge disappointment because no one likes the gifts purchased for them, or complains about having to work in the kitchen to feed family.

We don't even decorate any more, nor do we buy presents. Just not worth the hassle. All we do is cook a nice meal and have fun doing other things like play music, or have lively conversations. Christmas is mainly for children anyway. Besides, even if we did decorate, my cat would have it destroyed in a matter of minutes.

The extent of holiday decorations is what's in my house in game. LOL I would still like a Christmas tree earlier than Christmas Eve on game though. I bought some of everything in Town Center deco room and would definitely like to see more!

I think "Happy Christmas" is more of a British thing than an American thing it seems. I watch a lot of BBC television shows online and they always seem to say Happy Christmas frequently. *shrugs*

Christmas is going downhill anyway. People just don't have the money like they used to, and all the "politically correct" crowd demanding removal of all holiday decorated trees from banks and other public places because they "offend" people with other belief systems.

For me, at Christmas time I get retrospective in regards to my relationships with primarily family, but also friends and other aspects. This year, I am feeling this much more than other years. Without going into details, I am hoping for a Christmas Miracle to happen. In fact I am not just hoping for it, I am trying to make it happen. And you know what, I think it is starting to happen.

Since I am overflowing with retrospect, I have been thinking about my time here on UOEX, near the beginning of my time here I was all praise, however, last few months, I think I complain more. Not that I am an OVER complainer, but still. It’s easy to forget about all the good stuff, and complain about the stuff that bothers us. That said, I have been wanting to shout out a few of the many things I like about the shard, and it seems this thread is a good place to do it.

-I love all the main custom features of the game

-I love all the holiday orientated goodies

-I love the seasonal deco of the shard by staff (bank areas etr)

-I love the custom Deco items

-I love the auctions

-I am blown away that new areas get added, this is a Huge feature to have added to an old game. (Halloween, Christmas, Umbras)

-Staff run events!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-Exex

-despite the occasional “knocking of heads” between the staff and I, I can still say you guys do a great job in making this a fun place, not just for the newbies, but for everyone, your attention to detail is really evident. I appreciate your efforts, Thank you.

well when you think about it christmas is a cheering holiday, after you get past the kids and their desire to attack anything in paper.. lucky i used trash bags and then paper, gives an extra layer hehe.. and the having to cook for an army thats only gonna want a salad.. honestly IF YOUR NOT GOING TO EAT IT THEN DONT ASK A WEEK AHEAD OF TIME IF IM MIAKING IT!!! GAH!!

anyhow, yea the snow makes the holiday so much better, and having friends here that have no issues offering me a happy hello even when they have thier own peeps to deal with in real life. i guess thats really what my holiday needs others that care about others not themselves and thier gains you know. So this holiday can be good, it can get better, and once its over we prepare for the great coming of our next big holiday.. EASTER i think. where we dye the eggs in a late hour fashion while the kids sleep so we can "hand them to the easter bunny" to hide as we are all drinking our coffee and trying to figure out what were doing up at 3am. ahh, good times. so yea taming bods suck, i mean i got a large one that gave me a leash... not even a good leash just a leash, so i guess leather is better atleast you can sell that.. or trade it. and as for DNA yea thats just a mess all of its own. so think positive.. its not your fault its your parents JK JK..

x-mas is awesome when you are a kid and sucks as an adult.

It's to cold outside to wake up at 6am in the morning to cold weather, clean snow, and go to work for 9 hours.

On a side note that shard is great because when I do get a chance to play I can actually switch up my daily routine to something else and still accomplish something.

The staff has done an awesome job in customizing this game for fun and longevity.

As for the negatives people are saying about taming...people use pets as a way to ease the difficulty of some of the gameplay and play solo if they can't get anyone to go with them to do a certain boss etc. I would like not to use pets but then i'm limited to doing only certain things until i can get uber enough to solo bosses.
