This is the message i get...The full version of UO Auto-map has not yet been downloaded. You need to successfully complete the download before you can start using UO Auto-map...
Thanks

I am having the same issue. I know the guy no longer updates it but is there a way to make it work now. I used to use it when I played along time ago and it was a great tool to have. Any help is appreciated.

I haven't used it in a while but I remember that when you downloaded the program, that program was just a downloader - it needs to download the actual files from a server in order to get UOAM working.
Well, I have just tried to use the one on
http://www.uoex.net/codex/technical/uoam, seems to work ok.

Thanks for the links I have it all working now. The only problem I have now is the map is all black. It shows the locations for stuff in town but it is all black, so instead of looking at terrain all I see is black with shop signs being the only thing I can see. Any suggestions?

I Had the same problem when i first started.
do some more searching on UO Map.
make sure the map files are in the UOAM directory.
somewhere it was told to get the map files from the UOAM site and copy them down into the UOAM directory.
but i did solve most of my problem following other instructions posted on this forum.
there might be a start up batch files that tells the start up program where the map files are. check into that.
good luck.

There's somewhat of a "replacement" for UOAM that seems to work pretty well, and that's
UOCartographer.
You can use the old .MAP files from UOAM (just copy them into the UOCartographer directory). Those should work fine for Excelsior, since we don't have to worry about those newfangled lands like TerMur, Stygian Abyss, etc.

With UOCartographer it keeps telling me it cant find the files map1.mul or map5.mul. Not sure what to do.

Go into the Options menu (right click somewhere on the map, Options is almost at the bottom) and make sure the "CC Path" points to your UO directory. That's where the *.MUL files are.

I checked my directory and it doesnt have them. I downloaded the client from this website should I just download the normal client then patch from here? Maybe the install didnt have them for some reason.

Try that version...i've never had any problems out of it except the black screen. When and if that happens you need to find the zipped file containing all the map image files and such and, re-direct it into the UOEX client.

Automap doesn't really 'install' itself, you just need all the files in a folder.
If anyone wants me to zip up my working copy of UOAM and bung it on my server just [pm me in game and I'll sort it out.

I hate to bring an old thread back, but I am having issues as well. I tried UO Cartographer, but that isn't working either.
I have UO Automap up and running with correct IP and Ports entered, but when I try to link, I get 'Unable to establish a connection. The server may be down. Make sure you have the proper IP address and port number.' I have this port forwarded, and my name entered correctly. Am I missing something silly? I'm running in Win 7 under Admin and compatibility mode for XP SP3.
Thanks.
