Hehe this was funny today... well actually frustrating, but really hilarious.

Me calling to the ISP tech support:
Hello my name is ..., address ..., internet isnt working, bla bla, all the story for a few months back, how i have a new router and how it kept disconnecting on saturday.
And the tech guy goes: But sir, i see that it's all working OK.
Me: How can it be working ok if my internet is down >at the moment<?

I suggested, maybe someone can come here and bring a new modem, maybe the modem is faulty.
> No sir the modem you have is fine, they always work.

Anyway... i've rewired somethings, maybe it helps... It's now no longer connected: Modem -> Surge protection -> Router, but just Modem -> Router. The surge protector is SocomecSicon, so i kinda doubt it's the problem. Time will tell :)

About a 15 minute downtime today due to the yesterday's isp-side "fix". It's up again, hopefully for more than 24 hours :)

Ok finally they sent someone who cares. He checked the signals at the amplifier (that box that connects the whole flat), also came to check the signals directly at the server. He says it's looks perfect but understands that there are disconnects happening and he just happened to come here when it all works tip-top (wow, i cant believe it, someone who actually believes that things might get broken sometimes).

He changed something in the box downstairs which might help, but said that in case it continues to go down frequently i should call again and they will investigate further (wow, again, the first guy at this company in a year who said such a thing).

Fingers crossed...

Well anyway, in a few months we should be getting an optic connection here, so if not sooner, then when that thing arrives.

The server is undergoing some extensive maintenance. CPU and case upgrade, also going to order up some wires.

I expect the upgrade to take about 1-2 hours.

Back ONLINE. Here's a summary of what i did:

Unfortunately the motherboard doesn't support that CPU (and they promote such compatibility), so we're still on the old hardware, but still i've changed the box which helps with cooling, it's less noisy and also fits into the area better, so that i can have more space for maneuvering cables and other equipment.

So basically nothing major.

Server Crash

I know this is a bit of a late reaction but:

The Server seems to have crashed. :?

I was not around during the time of the crash and I have no idea what caused it. I have let Colibri know and as soon as he is around, I am sure we will be up and running again.

If anyone was around during the time of the crash, please submit any information you think that might be helpful in identifying the crash. I.E, what you were doing just before the crash.

All that I can tell from the event is that there was a world save, Selena logged out, and then there was the crash. The time in between those actions is unknown to me.

We should be back online again soon I am sure.

It was the buggy aquarium, i fixed the error and put the server back online. Sorry for the long downtime, if i knew it earlyer i would have put it back online earlyer. Anyway, we should be getting the new hardware in a week or two, then even Rayne will be able to access it and restore it in case of a crash.

I am currently changing the server with the new one. The server went down at 16:30 shard time, and is expected to be offline 1-2 hours, but i'll try to make it less than 1 hour.

The server is now ONLINE, but on a temporary server. This one is a bit slow so expect 30 second saves. I'm still working on the new one (some problems with windows sucking), and it should be on in a few hours (when we'll have a 5 minute downtime again, to transfer to the new server.

Mmmm that fresh new server smell. After alot of combat (saturday and sunday, it's now monday 4:53 AM), i've finally got it all up the way it should be. Enjoy the faster save times. And we (Rayne and me) will enjoy the easyer access to the server.

Thank you all for your patience, and for bearing the lag we had while we were on the temp server. I think it was worth it.

Arg, the server crashed. Well i was going to have an upgrade anyway, so i'll take this time to move the files and add a few more gigs of RAM to the server. Sorry for the downtime.

NTFS file permissions did. The only reason i can think of is that i accedentially picked the wrong user. But it's working now so good.
