Newbie general questions

Post by bittiez »

Hey guys, I'm pretty new here (I did play a long time ago), and I've got a few questions....

First, what are some fighting "templates" here, right now I'm using a white wyrm, but the best I can seem to do is despise or that level area before he starts dyeing too easily..
Some servers I've seen have a mirror build with ninjitsu that the mirrors attack like normal pets instead of just taking dmg, are mirrors any good here?
I'm just trying to figure out a decent play style to progress a bit further

Are there any champs doable with a wyrm and basic (very basic ) combat gear or so I need to wait until I can afford better gear?

Are there some places you guys can suggest for hunting? Despise is getting boring, my wyrm can only handle one dragon at a time so destard is not a very good place for me because they seem to spawn multiple in one spot, I don't know a whole lot about other facets as most of my play time was on an AoS server way back

Any other helpful tips would be excellent too!

ahh ok well that will be your next step, focus on building as much of your skills as possible to get ready for that series of quests that will make you much stronger then you are, mistvale is a must. Try to get the high priority 120 skills scrolls you need and also the +50 stat scroll asap. :)

It's a little hard to get 120's when they usually 800k+, I make about 10k or so in the 1-2 hours I have to play a day :P

110s and 115s are good to, the idea is to keep workin upwards.. that 21 day mark is important.

Most tend to go the dex route as 220 dex gives instant healing with bandages. This is achieved with gear and raising dex stat cap and total stat cap, there's a guide in the wiki iirc. Though i must say, life leech can keep you alive in most places (life leech on weapons or/and via spells).

Mirror images *can* be useful but it's a bit tricky, i've tried using them against monsters that insta-kill (+1000 dmg), usually i end up dead :P

If you like pets you should definitely get spirit speak up and use cleric spells (say "i pray to the gods" or use the command [cs spellname), best healing spells in game.

As for hunting, i don't know what newbies do these days :lookingout:

Well, newbies tend to die. A lot. But while waiting for the 21 day mark, make sure to hit the training room. Go to the world Tele, custom, training room. Pick up any green Dirk and attack a trainer. You can train all combat skills to 75 in this room. You will also gain anatomy and tactics. Remember to remove all gear and weapons other than the dirk. You will not take damage but your gear will. You dont want to lose that fashionable green helmet too soon. Past 75, look for someone with a personal trainer and see if they will let you use it. Train up the easy skills while you read the wiki. Hiding, spirit speak, etc.

OP, leave enough money to insure stuff that's valuable, gear that's hard to replace, spell caster's keys for example are quite essential item, and make sure your pets are bonded. You get pet bonding deeds from trinsic blue token stone for 10k tokens iirc and from doing taming BODs and ofc from other players :) Oh, and they will automatically bond after some time if you keep em happy.

Also, edited my previous post and fixed an error on my part, spirit speak is needed for cleric stuff, not chivalry.

You can also earn money by escorting escorts every 5 minutes. Another easy way to earn gold is when your killing easy monsters collect all the jewels off the body's and sell them to the jeweler. You can also get with a few other new players and do the newbie champ which is located in FEL just a little north of the teleporter.

To clarify, escorts are NPCs found near city world teleporters. One click em to accept the escort or say "i take thee" and use the teleporter to take them quickly to the destination :)

Hi. One thing I didn't see anyone mention is our pet system here is quite custom and allows for breeding, which basically allows super pets. You (like most people), probably remember WW + Nightmare = godly pets. Not so much here. Here, everyone is after fully trained/bred mules. It will eat a WW for breakfast without breaking a sweat, and is only 1 slot, where a WW is 3. Not sure what the going price is these days, but I remember them to be around 150k or so.

Breeding itself is lengthy and/or costly process, maybe not something a new player can do efficiently :P

There's a guide in the wiki about the subject tho.

Absolutely, but I more meant the efficiency of mules vs white wyrms and nightmares.
