The Approaching Shadow: The Resistance (13th Entry)

Post by +Veritas »

On the evening of the 5th, the adventurers of Excelsior in the Britian bank area had a premonition. Their views of flourishing vegetation and lively community were torn from them, and replaced with visions of scorched earth, burning buildings, and spilt blood. Demons of shadow towered over them, while the flames of the area reached toward a dark robed figure standing between the ancient horrors. It was Legion, and he had an outstretched arm with a roll of parchment in hand. The adventurers heard a whisper around them that said:

"Two weeks from this night, I will feast on the corpse of your fearless leader, Stelios..."

The parchment fell from Legion's hand, and as it slowly floated to the ground where he stood, the vision of blood and fire left. The people of Britian all thought they hallucinated, until they saw the looks on each others faces. All skepticism was removed when they looked back to where Legion stood and saw the parchment. Upon inspecting the message, it was browned and warm to the touch. The message within stated:

"Two weeks from now, by this time. Britian will burn."

The Excelsior Army has been preparing the city of Felucca Britian for the inevitable. With the growing occupation of Felucca cities and the development of Umbris outposts in the cover of the wilderness, the armies of Bael'Nefario have effectively surrounded the capital of Excelsior. Fortunately, with the recovery of Angela's magical staff and the defection of Ximestis, the forces of Excelsior have added two powerful summoners to their ranks to help fend off the assault. Angela will also work around the clock creating helpful gear for all defenders to use.

Whether it is our darkest day, or our finest hour...we will meet it on the 18th of February at 14:00 EST (20:00 Shard Time).

All shard rules apply. Pets will not be allowed. No Enchanted Grove. Plenty of ankhs and free corpse stones. It is highly recommended that you immediately use the corpse stone upon death, since you may die on your way back to your first corpse and therefore complicate the retrieval of your gear. Insure, bless, or bank all items you do not want lost. Expect to participate in a battle that could last upwards of 60-75 minutes.

Stelios' side mission will be to monitor Legion's movement during combat. If the battle starts to move in our favor, he may make a run for Bael'Nefario's world. He could lead us to the doorway that connects our world, and his master's.

Brave Sir Legion (Sung to the tune of Monty Python's Brave Sir Robin)

Bravely bold Sir Legion Rode forth from Umbris Camp.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh brave Sir Legion.
He was not at all afraid To be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Legion.

He was not in the least bit scared
To be mashed into a pulp.
Or to have his eyes gouged out,
And his elbows broken.
To have his kneecaps split
And his body burned away,
And his limbs all hacked and mangled
Brave Sir Legion.

His head smashed in
And his heart cut out
And his liver removed
And his bowls unplugged
And his nostrils twitched
And his bottom burnt off
And his ...
"That's... that's enough music for now lads, *** there's dirty work afoot*** ???."

Brave Sir Legion ran away. ("No!")
Bravely ran away away. ("I didn't!")
When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled. ("no!")
Yes, brave Sir Legion turned about ("I didn't!")
And gallantly he chickened out.
****Bravely**** taking ("I never did!") to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.("all lies!") Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Legion!("I never!")

Go away or I shall taunt you a second time!!!!
