Patch 4b - "Booster Patch" Now Available!

Patch 4b - working title "The booster patch" - is now available for download!

You can download the patch from: http://www.uoex.net/codex/technical/startup
You can either download the entire prepatched client from the top of that page; or you can scroll down to the bottom and download only the updated files.

Once you are patched with 4b, you can go to the Patch Test Room in Town Center to check if you've installed it correctly. Once you enter the patch test room, there will be a sign a few steps north that indicates where the area for the 4b patch is. You should see the sign, bright green floors, and 3 items on the green floors (pictured below). If you don't see the floors and/or only see unused tiles where the items should be, you are not properly or fully patched.

This patch includes a few hundred more wearables/graphics, over 50 new hues, map modifications for Elysium (Including 3 entirely custom dungeons built by yours truly), as well as a few tweaks and fixes from the previous patch. With this release, I'll be able to begin working on Elysium more actively again, and will be able to start releasing updated quest rewards

What's up with the empty folder named _VERSION _4b_150301 inside the patch-4b folder? (Looks like the patch-4a has similar folder, which is empty too.)

Every tree in Ilshenar is "gone" in this patch, or rather the tree is there, but it is invisible.

The issues with Ilshenar are well known. From the portal:

If you are still seeing odd things like no trees, no walls, missing stairs/entrances to dungeons, you should try patching again. +C fixed this last night and I've checked several places on the map and they look completely normal to me with the updated patch. There were issues with it yesterday while +C was working on finishing porting over some of the items that were modified as part of Elysium's map edits, but that's all completed now.

If you have the updated patch and see mostly the correct stuff in Ilshenar, but see one or two things that aren't right (like missing dungeon entrances or etc), send a page from that location so we can check. It's possible a few things were missed here and there. But those of you seeing wide-spread issues likely aren't patched correctly, these kinds of issues happen when one of your patched map files gets corrupted in one way or another.

I downloaded the "updated files only" version earlier today and re-downloaded it some moments ago, but Ilshenar is still all bonkers for me.

You must log out & close all your UO related programs before installing the patch. I see you only appear to have logged out for roughly 40 seconds, so it's possible that's the issue. Also make sure you're loading the correct installation. If you still have trouble I'd suggest you install the pre-patched client into an entirely new directory, then copy over the "Desktop" folder from your usual install to keep your hotkeys and such.

I did close every UO related program before installing and have checked that it's the correct one. Guess i'll just install the pre-patched client then. But it would be nice to have the patch working without the need of a complete client install.

Most players have not needed a client install. I didn't install a new client, either. But, when one is having difficulty with the process, that's generally the easiest solution.
