Alternate Pack

Post by Aryck »

So I liked the dragon pack style, but the color got old kind of quick. So I edited it to be a nice light tan.

Anyhow, files here if you'd like to use it:

To use it follow Nyx's instructions for switching the packs here: http://uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10674

I opened a bunch of vendors for examples. Everything light and dark shows up really well.

The staff discussed it, and we don't mind folks posting their custom backpack files and whatnot. However, we did decide that a disclaimer from us is necessary, so that anybody considering using these files would be made aware of a few things.

Disclaimer from the staff:
  • Downloading files from any source other than us is a potential risk, and everyone should be aware that while we will allow these types of things to be posted, we do not vouch for their validity or safety.
  • Editing these types of files can be very tricky and cause problems that aren't seen immediately upon "testing" the changes. I once had to start over and re-do six months worth of work on a patch because the files were half corrupt- when I logged in, they looked fine on first glance, but I later realized that many items were invisible or graphically glitched (because only part of the file was corrupt). There is a certain level of know-how that goes into patching our client, and while changing out a single gump image isn't difficult, a person without the knowledge of these files and their quirks could easily end up with a broken or partially corrupt file.
  • Any files edited by other players and not released by us are not part of our patching process, and this could cause you to have various odd graphical quirks that we cannot assist you with. You will not be able to page and get help figuring out why something looks wrong if you are using files customized by others.
  • Since these files aren't part of our release, the next time we send out a patch, you will lose this customization and have to re-install them if/when the original author updates it to be compatible with the newest release.
