Hi, people

Post by Uzziel »

Just thought I'd toss out a quick hello on the forums. I'm still somewhat new to this shard at 70ish days. Absolutely love it here so far. I'm a 4 yr uo vet from 2000-04. Played mainly on chessy and siege. More than enough remembered to jump in and have a good time, but wow there's alot of custom stuff going on here. I'm thinking it might be awhile to absorb it all. Anyhow, I just wanted to say hi to all, and feel free to say hi if you see me wandering around out there. = )

Hello and welcome to Excelsior! There is a 'ton' of custom content here and more always on the horizon. The staffers work hard to keep it interesting and balanced and most players are helpful and nice. Always good to see new people :nod:

Hollar at me anytime if you have questions, but please keep in mind this: I have a couple of kids and am often afk, :lool:

IMHO a good tip I pass on to new/old vets is that outside of the basics of what you knew where you were, forget most of what you knew there wont help here. this is a great shard and the most generous and friendly ppl you will find and the admin is top notch too. the other tip is keep a notebook near and take notes it will help.

Welcome to UOEX :)

You've received some excellent advice from your fellow players already so all I can add to it is that an adventurous attitude goes a long way when you're first starting off here. What I mean by that is that you might wander into unexpected danger and die repeatedly, or forget to insure and lose some stuff, or make any number of "oopsies" while you get used to the very custom nature of the shard. If you can take those knocks with good-natured aplomb, you'll find yourself having a great time here. Good luck!

Just would like to say hello. And in my opinion, it is best to think before joining any guild as well. Maybe wait a few days even if you know it is the one for you. The bests guilds will help you gear up and give you information on gear as well as possibly giving you other things you may need to help you start running with them right away. They will also give you information and tell you how to get your gains going quickly and may help you get this done if they can. All of the best guilds I have ever been in have done this, and I have been happy as a member with them when I have.

Oh and this shard is just awesome anyway I was here a few years ago and have shard jumped since then but came back as it just is so much better with it's people and the staff. Had to make a new char and account as my old one was gone :(

Glad you are enjoying it here!

I love the shard, the people are great, plenty of custom content and almost always a seasonal event going on.

You have probably happened across my oversized and organized rune library by now... if not stop by ^_^
- - In game name:: Simply Delicious - -
Find my HUGE Rune LIbrary
- Main Floor Housegates
- Bottom SE corner, look for the black and white housegate tile (looks like a QR code you can scan)
Rune displayed @TC -- Far West Wall: Simply's

One thing that helped me out a lot when I started was getting a hold of Spell Caster's keys (for reagents), Tailor's keys (for storing cloth, which you can then cut into bandages and Wood Worker's keys (for storing arrows if you wish to use a Yumi). Also a Bag of Sending is godly for people like me who don't have a Bag of Holding.

I hope this helps. Oh and Discordance will help you tackle the harder monsters quite well. Unlike OSI, there is no internal cooldown on Discordance, so you can place it on as many mobs as you are fighting.
